Pat Robertson is 75. Is he just senile, or is it more that he's a
reactionary jerk? Or is it that he's a senile, reactionary jerk?

4. Senile like a fox...
he's doing what he's always done, using the bigotry and
ignorance of his followers to puff up his ego and get
them to write him a check.

There s no God...or Robertson would be suffering painfully.

7. He's always been like this hasn't he?
I think we're just getting more exposure to him now than we used to, just because corporate media chooses to give nutcases like him a big forum to spout their drivel. I don't think it was quite this bad a few years ago when he was a little younger.

Matthew 24:"10And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one
another, and shall hate one another. 11And many false
prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many."

20. He's been around much longer than the Bush administration.
The 700 show has been around for two decades I think. And he's always said controversial stuff, but he's never been watched as closely as he is now.

15. He likes seeing himself on national TV. Period. No further info is needed.
he knows that if it's wacko-enough, they'll all run it. And I heard that on Fox news today, too. Even Fox doesn't want to be associated with the bastard, anymore.

Robertson's on TV for the same reason those "reality" shows are: They make you feel better about yourself watching those pathetic losers.

23. Oh, thanks.
I've been googling but keep running into articles that require registration and sites that require more recent browsers that I have on my dinoputer.

I don't think that's as bad as advocating the assassination of Hugo Chavez, which I don't recall getting this much news coverage.

26. I'm kinda behind on my knowledge of Christian tenets, but isn't...
what he said akin to blasphemy, in that he put himself in God's place by passing judgment on another human?

I've never entered into the I/P debates at DU, and I never will, but what he said, as far as I'm concerned, is a terrible thing to say, and puts him in league with Fred Phelps and his ilk.

28. I really wonder, don't some of these 700 club/Robertson fans just think to
themselves, and a simply human, not religious, level, that,

"Hey! It seems wrong to gloat over someone on their deathbed and pass judgement on them to the media! It just seems not decent, not nice on a very fundamental level!"

NAAAAHH! I guess anyone who gets those pangs of compassion left that fold a long time ago...

24. Robertson has been round for awhile
but I don't remember him getting the press he gets now. I suspect that a lot of his rantings are do to a new found sense of being embolden by a like minded critter in the White House.

His followers put Bush in the White House and now is the time for them to flex their muscles and spew their nonsense. After all, they are entitled to do so since their guy is President. :eyes:

It must have been a real annoyance for Bush to have to come out and speak against Robertson's drivel. I'm sure he would have been more than happy to have let it slide, except that it was just too over the top to ignore. Bush used these people and I think he would like to continue to do so. However, not coming out with some outrage would have cost him more politically than he could afford these days. I can almost guarantee that if Bush's poll numbers had been higher, nothing would have been said.

is on his deathbed because of God's judgement, it doesn't look too good to say nothing.
