Student Accused Of E-Mailing Threats Against President
FLORENCE, Ky. - He said it was a prank gone wrong, but police are taking a 13-year-old student's alleged threats against the president very seriously. Authorities have charged the teen with terroristic threatening, a felony.

The Ockerman Middle School student is accused of making threats against the city of Florence and the president of the United States in e-mails he allegedly sent to city officials, police said.

Principal David Claggett told News 5 that the teen claimed the e-mails were just a joke.

"He said, 'Well, I was just messing around, just kidding around. I wasn't really serious about it,'" Claggett said.

1. But that asshole coulter
can publicly, and verifiably, threaten a Supreme Court Justice, and her "just kidding" gets the freak of nature off the hook.

4. Haven't you heard? It's okay to make death threats as long
as they're against anyone not part of the Bushistas?

I don't get it either. I agree with not making threats against the President, regardless of what one may think of him, but when people like Coulter start making threats, and those threats are picked up by others to the point where Ginsberg and O'Connor are speaking out about it, something should definitely be done. Coulter then turns around and says she was "just kidding." Um sorry, Ann, I don't get the "joke".

6. YES! This juvenile will get the book thrown at him, while Coulter runs
her mouth with impunity.

If they charge the kid, they should charge the neocon adult.

12. Not to mention how she said all liberals should be killed.

Gee, Ann, that's just so cute.

{SNIP}

But I don’t believe she's joking even though she's smiling (when saying terrible things)," I said. "And not to accuse anyone of being a fascist -- so please don’t take a soundbite out of this conversation and blow things out of context -- but the Nazis began their campaign for the holocaust with jokes and satire in order to dehumanize the Jews. Stalin did the same thing; lots of witty jokes demeaning everyone who displeased him. And some people actually said Stalin had hooves!

Harman said, "Well nowadays, you can't have a boring speaker. If you look at TV, everyone is an extremist." That's when I realized that moderates are actually so unusual these days, they are truly the new frontier.

"But Coulter talks fippantly, jokingly – about 'killing liberals and democrats'," I continued. "Talking about killing people is just not that funny." Unless she's moving her Adam's apple at the same time, as a sideshow, I thought. "And the sarcasm she uses is dehumanizing. She uses double-think, saying ‘liberals and traitors and terrorists; different stages of the same disease.’ She advocates killing us!" Harman nervously laughed my comment off. And she is paid $30,000 to speak to impressionable young minds who have no sense of history or nuance.

21. Refresh my memory, which US Senator made the comment that
President Clinton should be careful entering his state? Was that Sen Strom Thurmond(sp)? While not actually threatening Pres. Clinton, he did leave it open for the haters to assess his meaning.

He could pop a zip next to the President. His cracking voice could annoy the President. OH MY! I wonder how many people could be fed with the money spent investigating this threat?

16. Glad I'm not the only one angered by this!
I mean what is free speech when the only people it seems that can get away with threats are rich, "Christian" (term used loosely), white republicans? :grr:

18. "Free speech" is such joke in this country any more.
You may only speak "freely" if you support the Bushistas and their agenda, and attack anyone and everyone who DOESN'T support them. "Free Speech Zones," threats against Supreme Court Justices, theats against cities, threats against leaders of other countries, threats against anyone and everyone who who disagrees with these repukes is absolutely okay. For us to speak out, well, we take a big chance doing that. We literally may end up in jail for the "crime" of exercising our First Amendement rights -- and I'm not talking about US making threats against THEM, the way they do against us. I'm just talking about voicing our opinion, and even worse, QUESTIONING what the hell is going on in this country.

I'm with you EOO. This burns me to no end. But I will say this -- they are NOT going to shut me up. As far as I know, the First Amendment IS still a right we have in this country, and it doesn't just apply to the Bushbots.

:grr:

22. Yeah, it sucks.
I wish the Bushistas would get it through their thick skulls (which house their tiny, peanut-sized brains) that they are not above the law. Every time I read about something like this, it pisses me off to no end. When is it going to change? I dont want to be here when the Bush declares himself Caesar and starts arresting anyone who doesnt agree with him. I seriously dont know what is happening to this country. Did I miss a meeting or something?

Many of us weren't invited, nor was I. And may the gods that be strike us down if we should dare to ask these idiots to explain themselves and their actions.

15. We're screwed. I keep on telling myself...
... to fight the good fight, but I'm coming to the realization that the great experiment is over. An in-your-face disregard of laws passed by congress, enemy combatants, tribunals, extraordinary renditions, warrantless spying, and lied into a war that "will last a generation". We're delusional if we think we still have a Bill of Rights. It's kindling in a fireplace at Camp David.

Fuck you Shrub, and fuck you members of the SS. I live in Shorewood, IL. Come get me.

Gee, a 13-year-old student in Kentucky -- he must be ranked at least a #2 or #3 in the al Queda network.

Yes, yes, the world **is** indeed a safer place tonight.
