Republicans jumping ship! |
|
I got this in the body of an email from a neighbor:
Well, we certainly agree on our illustrious president and his cohorts. I know at least four staunch Republicans (relatives) who are absolutely repulsed by The Shrub (son of Bush) even though they once voted for him. How many DUers have been getting similar confessions from once staunch Republican relatives and friends? What exactly did they say? I'm collecting these as testimonials of sorts.

3. Thing Is That Doesn't At All Equate With Who They'll Vote For Next Time. |
|
Just means they've lost their love for shrubby. We need to take advantage the opportunity while they're vulnerable to independent thought and convince them of why voting democratic, and being a democrat, is the far better way to go for their own values. No longer liking * isn't enough. Getting them to see we've been right all along, and are the party who can heal this great nation and help her regain her glory while improving the quality of life for all, is what is enough.

who voted for Bush now regret it. They even admit that KERRY would have been better. All sorts of confessions. "He's such a bastard. He really is."
Wonderful. I'm glad to have them back. HOWEVER, I DO want this to be a learning experience. Don't vote Granholm out. The message is: BUSH AND THE REPUBLICAN PARTY ARE ONE. YOU GAVE UP ON BUSH, YOU OUGHT TO GIVE UP ON THEM. These fools better not vote in November and say, "well, Senator Lunchbox isn't Bush. He's different" and in 2008, "Oh this guy is great, he's nothing like Bush..." WAKE UP. You're being duped.

The Republicans made Bush, they continue to rubber-stamp his policies and defend his illegal activities, they stand by him and allow no accountability for his actions.
They made him, they kept him in office, they need to go down with him.

7. Experience originally posted March 25, in the South Dakota forum: |
|
Earlier this morning I went to breakfast at a local greasy spoon restaurant. It was crowded, and I found myself sitting at a table with our town's (Republican) mayor.
He was talking about City/Tribal relations, which are in continual flux, because despite some uneasiness and disagreements both the town and the Tribe largely know that there are many points of mutual interest where everyone will come out better if they can cooperate--but at the same time there is significant mutual mistrust, . . .
At one point he began to criticize the tribal government, and I said, that while I could also criticize the tribal government, that I believed that in comparison with the federal government these days the tribal government was setting a very good example.
HE AGREED!
He also stated that, "Oh, you won't find very many people around here who think much of Bush anymore." (obviously including himself as one that no longer thought much of Bush)

8. The shrub topic came up at work today |
|
ALL comments were negative in reference to him, not a single defender. I live in a red state & this represents a resounding, monumental change in perception. I believe he has irrevocably lost his so-called 'base', the results of which will be manifest in November.

11. My mom's doctor told her during her check-up that he hated Bush. |
|
Also, I was watching a plastic surgery program on Discovery Health channel one night last week & there was a late 30-ish woman who wanted a prominent vertical line between her eyes corrected. It's the kind of line one gets from years of frowning a lot. She told the doctor it was caused by Bush's first term! Kind of caught me off guard, but I loved hearing it.

Big discussion about the mismanagement of Katrina, and that was the straw that broke the camel's back. Probably won't convert to the Democratic party, but I don't think he will vote the party line if it still has remnants of this administration involved. It's a little win, but it's a win.

27. A friend who told me she voted for Kerry |
|
said a few weeks ago that she really wanted bush to win because a friend of hers had a son in Iraq (Yeah, real bright. Vote for the guy who sends a kid into harms way). She was crying her eyes out because of all of the violence. She said she couldn't understand why we went there. I was the one that had talked her into voting for Kerry. I'm not sure that she really did. I didn't ask. This is someone I have known since I was ten years old. I told her the truth. If she got it wrong, that makes it her problem and mine. Her parents made her go to church three times a week, and her mom was a complete fundy nut case. I'm not sure who she voted for, but from my last conversation with her, she won't be voting for a republican anymore. She was very upset about these kids going to war. Hopefully, she finally got it.

I was once a Republican, too, after all. I didn't remain one much into the * presidency because even though I had a lot of issues to contend with, I ain't that stupid or that obtuse. Some folks are just too busy and maybe not as quick to realize something is wrong. I'll admit that anyone who still toes the GOP party line at this point is either stupid, ignorant, willfully ignorant or greedy. Or a goddamn fundy. I've about had my fill of fundies the past few days. Ugh. Lucky for you all I hurt too bad to do much typing or you'd get a rant of biblical proportions. :)

Danger always present Judge the book by its content Not the cover
Is it more important that the cover be R or D Or it is the content
