Poll question: How safe is Jack Abramoff? Will he make it to court to testify?
Edited on Sat Jan-07-06 11:32 PM by Dunvegan
Talk about the sterotypical "Man Who Knew Too Much".

We now know that Abramoff's deal is to exchange damning and inditeable testimony about the Executive, Congress and more for 90+ years off his sentence. That deal was struck only because Jack could deliver an unprecedented round-up of hyper-corrupt Republicans for high crimes and long sentences.

We know that the scandal shines a laser beacon extremely high vertically and extremely broad horizontally.

My question is this: Will Jack be nimble enough to survive to testify against what may be a hundred or more of the most powerful people in the US...people who rabidly aspire to a pinnacle of power and global domination which they indend to give them a generation (or more) long stranglehold on the people and economy of the entire world?

(Edited to say: If you have any other poll choices I've missed, post them and I'll add them.)

18. Him. No grammar Nazi here, but just thought you might like to know you
were right with your first take. Which is usually the case.

5. How can the architects of all that has gone before...
...all the Bush Administration deaths (911/Iraq/Katrina/etc.) let this one point of failure bring everything down?

That's my current worry.

Maybe let him testify for a bit...but when it gets to the Executive, do you really think Cheney would be above spiriting Jack away to Uzbekistan?

I fear an "Oswald" coming on....

I would have tapes and letters and clear instructions if anything was to "happen" to me. It is his only insurance.

11. He'll sing like a canary
And bring down many with him, though unfortunately I believe he won't bring down the whole GOP in a swirl of corruption. That knot requires more untying.

...is a GOP politician. A lot are...many are not elected officials.

Many are the hyper-wealthy (Bechtel, etc.) who owe their most recent wealth to this particular party of corruption.

14. most likely he will live to wear those bright orange pants....
I think so.. his testimony is really only supportive to the mounds of written evidence they already have. The bush appointee will dutifully make sure that there is nothing in the charges that can lead back to him, but all else is up for grabs---bush may protect the Aspen group, but I think everyone else is going down. Also they have more than one to testify.

16. If these people kill, he's a dead man.
And I mean kill in the personal, assassination sense. We already know they are willing to kill in the "send soldiers to attack other nations" sense.

Abramoff doesn't just threaten individual careers. He threatens the existing power structure. Either that structure kills him, or it crumbles.

(I guess a 3rd option exists: the investigation winds up being either incompetent or a whitewash.)

before he got whacked at an Ft. Lauderdale intersection.
