The Freeper reaction to the release of Jill Carroll - what you'd expect
"Before too long, watch for her to speak about how well she was treated and how much she admires them and their cause."

"No doubt whatsoever about that - I smell "usefull idiot"... Bigtime"

"I wonder if she got a nice tan."

"She's back from Burkaback Mountain and coming to Mohamad"

Some posts express joy, but not many - it's all a leftie/commie/librul/pinko plot, OK ??

15. Gee, that would be AWFUL
I mean allowing a journalist who was kidnapped for two months to write about the goals of the insurgents and what they are thinking.....I mean, NOBODY wants to know that!!!

Can you maybe get Frist to do a special law, kinda like the Shiavo law, to prohibit her from writing her book?????

Thank you

19. Geez, relax. Nobody said she shouldn't write a book.
Something's going to come of it, and if it's a best seller, she'll get some compensation for whatever happened to her.

27. maybe it's because of your earlier remark
"I think it's fantastic she's been released...On the other hand, let us not fool ourselves into believing there's not a lucrative book deal in her future."

Sentence structure would seem to indicate, by use of the phrase "on the other hand", that you're of the opinion the book deal is less than fantastic.
An opinion you're entitled to, but you can't very well later on claim to have not expressed an opinion. Unless of course you misspoke.
There's a lot of that going around.

33. I think the problem was the wording
"On the other hand, let us not fool ourselves into believing there's not a lucrative book deal in her future." is just a funny way to phrase it. The fooling ourselves part makes it sound like...anyone was. We are celebrating her release, wishing her the best.

For a writer who has been in this situation and such a focus for us to write a book would be natural, we hope she does. There will be quite a market so a lucrative offer. If that's what you meant no one would disagree. Again the wording could be taken many ways and it did feel funny at this glad time.

18. No, one doesn't have to watch Fox News
I don't want their "side" of the story anyway. And CNN is only marginally better.

25. Your mistaken assumption is that
one would get "two sides of a story" from watching Fox News and CNN. Bzzzzzt. You would get two mildly varied versions of the same narrative, neither of which would be a damn sight near anything like "truth." They are both propaganda organs for "US interests" (or what masquerades as "US interests," usually being in the interest only of the powerful corporations and their government stooges) plain and simple. The only thing you might learn from them is the various intensity and form of the current propaganda line, which is something like a truth all its own, in the same way that the Russian people under the Soviets learned to read between the lines of Pravda for something vaguely resembling the state of the world. The intensity of the propaganda indicates the level of danger the ruling class is under on any given issue, and that's about all you learn from the cable news.

30. I think it's quite admirable that you want to hear both sides
of a given issue. But you seem to be shortchanging yourself by relying on CNN.
No one believes that old chestnut that CNN is a liberal news outlet, although
it's commonly claimed to be so by those seeking to move political discourse
ever further to the right. Republicans have worked hard to create an impression
of liberal bias in regard to any network, program or personality with less than
100% perfect vacuum seal between their lips and Bush's member.

If you really want to balance out your Fox news viewing with a liberal point
of view you might consider listening to Air America.

34. I urge you to see the documentary called Outfoxed
to see the true status of Fox "News" in the scheme of things. It is mainly interviews with former Fox News personnel about how their stories were dictated and steered by the White House.
As was mentioned in some editorial writing only yesterday (this was mainstream and I can find the link with a little hunting), the neocons should more rightly be called the NeoComms for their striking resemblance to the old communist apparatus of incompetent cronies, including an official news outlet, known as Pravda. Ironically, nowadays Pravda is actually more credible than any of our own corporate media propaganda outlets, including CNN.

38. I wasn't talking about the media, I was talking about the sick-in-the-head
freepers. This lady was a peacemaker, you know, as in "Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God". This guy Jesus said it but that doesn't seem too important to the sicko Freepers. Ms. Carroll was clearly, plainly, and outspokenly against their monkey-man leaders' pet war and she didn't just type about it and go to rallies, she WENT there to try to help in whatever way she could. Because she didn't support the death destruction, and rape of Iraq that made her in their minds deserving of brutality and beheading.

Her father was just interviewed on FNC. He seems like a really nice guy. Sounds like a rebellious daughter.

We can only hope that her eyes have been opened to the truth after this.......however, I am not holding my breath.
