Why I am no longer a member of the Republican Party ...Posted on
Craig's List......
quote.....
1. Our current administration is full of liars and criminals
2. Republicans spend more than "tax and spend" Democrats
3. On balance, Democrats are more compassionate
4. George W Bush is an idiot
5. Dick Cheney is an asshole
6. Donald Rumsfeld is evil
7. Tom Delay is a scumbag
8. Many Republicans have historically been anti-environment
9. Religious Right
10. Rednecks

I still like free markets and competition but I am so pissed of at our current administration I have changed my party affiliation. Thanks to the bozos in Washington! You continue to destroy our country! And giving the rest of the world good reason to really not like us!
end quote.....

4. Shouldn't it be:
Dick Cheney is evil and Donald Rumsfeld is an asshole?
Actually they are both evil assholes.

Since when are Democrats against free markets and competition? There's a bit of implication there. But overall a nice find. Thanks for posting.

Should I send that to the guy who wrote me this?

Im against liberal whiny wussy democrats...I support republican, christian ideals...I used to be a liberal but saw the light of consevatism..as many others do..that is why the GOP is the majority party..and the dems keep shrinking in size and influence..VOTE GOP!

I am trying to tone down the rant I plan to send this guy. Here is what I have so far.

I don’t think that the GOP has the market cornered on moral behavior. For example there is the Abramoff scandal. How about the torturing of prisoners of war. I am pretty sure that GOP Senator John McCain could explain to you the morality of that. What about the environment? I don’t think they have been very good stewards of our planet. There is also the outing of a CIA operative as political payback for criticism. That criticism was about the case our President made for war. Have you heard of the Downing Street memos? The case for war in Iraq was fabricated and allowed Osama to escape. I sure don’t feel any safer. Look at what happened in London. I don’t say that to knock the troops. I served seven years of active duty as an enlisted man. If you want to support the troops we should bring them home. Is that too wussy? Okay I was counting off the morals that you claim belong to the GOP. So far we have, corruption, lying, vengeance against patriots. Oh yeah I forgot incompetence. The response to Katrina ring a bell? How about not even supplying body armor to our troops. What really burns me is this. During the debate of John Roberts confirmation, we heard about how he would strictly interpret the constitution. Is that the same constitution that W called a G__ D___ piece of paper? He has totally abused his powers as commander in chief. Our founding fathers made us certain guarantees under the bill of rights. Our fourth amendment rights have been violated by this president with his NSA wiretapping and email eavesdropping. What is to stop him from violating our first or second amendment rights? He obviously has no respect for the constitution and believes he is above the law.
Congress is already calling for an investigation into many of his actions. Your party there is in disarray due to the Abramoff scandal. This president deserves impeachment at the very least.
I am guessing that you support this president for one of three reasons.
1. Blind loyalty
2. Tax Cuts –the knee jerk response. Eventually we have to pay off the debt he has run up. These are more like tax deferments. Our children and grand children will pay for the 9 Trillion Dollars he has spent. Have you noticed your local taxes rising? His father did the same thing.
3. You oppose abortion. I think that it is wrong to interfere in another person’s decision. I would not want them interfering in mine.
If that if any of these are your reasons you are deluded and need to pay more attention to what is going on. I don’t mean that as an insult. While the Democratic Party may not have the answer to everything I believe they have the ability to fix our current problems. I won’t even go into all of the way our president is screwing the middle class and their children. I can provide you with evidence of everything I say here. Please come to your senses. This is wrong. Please stand up. This nation that every patriot that has served and swore to defend is being destroyed by this administration

Any suggestions?

13. I would mention the voting machines!
The evidence is overwhelming that Kerry won the 04 election by at a minimum 5M votes or about 3%. Ck the evidence. Both elections which Bush supposedly won were stolen using the same kind of corruption and insider rigging that characterizes the Abramoff scandal.

And Republicans by and large don't push for verified voting and auditing of elections. If they are forced to vote on bills they will go along with them but they will do everything they can secretly to oppose such bills.

The electronic voting machines are the basis of the Repubs "supposed" popularity with the electorate. It's an illusion like everything else about the Repubs now (the Neocons and criminals running that party now).

12. I'm a redneck
Edited on Sun Jan-08-06 04:26 AM by melody
Al Gore is a redneck. Bill Clinton is a redneck. Jimmy Carter is a redneck. "Redneck" is an ethnic group of rural southern Scots-Irish and Northern English. You can pick many of us out of a crowd in hot or cold weather -- we're the ones that are all flushed red. Only some of us are Republicans. Vast numbers are good, ol' fashioned liberals.

16. I think of the word redneck being an adjective
synonymous with ignorant,
also racist

and having nothing to do with geography.

23. It's a noun
Its primary definition:

A poor white person in the southern United States

The use of the word "redneck" in this context is itself racist. Its use
this way is a result of the application of that racism.

17. Remember the Reagan Democrats?
Well me might get a reverse influx of Anti-Bush Republicans. This isn't the first posting of a moderate Republican switching sides. I think we should be making an effort to welcome these people over to our side.

18. Well, that's a heartwarming story
It's nice to know that all Republicans aren't Stepford citizens. Good for him.

Hopefully, once those truths set in, he'll start to realize that the "free market" is another big Republican lie, too.

Fair Trade, Not Free Trade!!!

22. That is one of the biggest Conservative myths....
that the GOP supports "free" markets. They support "controlled for our own benefit" markets.

Free markets are functionally extinct. We live in Corporate World now.

21. Good for him/her!
We're not going to get anywhere in the country, imho, until decent Repubilcans come to the same conclusions this person has. We may win the White House or the Congress, but as long as the rwers are pulling their shit, they'll continue to impeach and set up phony "contracts with America." The system will never be fixed until the whole country comes around to sanity.
