Study says Iraq war could cost $1 trillion to $2 trillion

A new study by a Nobel Prize-winning economist and a budget expert puts the total cost of the Iraq War at $1 trillion to $2 trillion.

In a paper presented to this week's Allied Social Sciences Association annual meeting in Boston, Linda Bilmes of Harvard and Nobel Laureate Joseph E. Stiglitz of Columbia University said the final bill is likely to be much higher than the Bush administration estimates

1. No surprise. The surprise is those Americans who fell for it when
the administration was saying a few billion dollars before the war started, that it would be paid for with Iraqi oil money, and that it would only take a few months.

2. Could two trillion dollars on this war qualify it as the biggest swindle
in history? I can't think of one thing positive that will come out of this war crime. I see dead people, lots of mentally physically messed up young soldiers, ruined contaminated land and the enmity of billions of people on the planet. I don't see that we even got a shawarma or a falafel for our two trillion. x(

3. According to Orwell, the supernations used wars that never ended
and never accomplished anything to intentionally waste money, time, lives, and resources; in order to keep the population in poverty, misery, and generallly too busy worrying about surviving in order to notice the actions of the government.

So he was only a couple decades off.
