Bob Schieffer had some very interesting suggestions for politicians.
He began by agreeing with Gingrich that politicians should ban any fund raisers from being held in Washington DC, and then added the following:

Ban any politician from accepting $$ from anyone outside of their own District or State.

Ban lobbyists from making ANY contributions directly to a politician.

He said, "Do you know who would support this the most? The lobbyists! The insatiable appetite for MONEY by all politicians drives most lobbyists NUTS!"

1. That's BS.
The return on lobbyist's investment in politicians is usually tenfold. As a matter of fact, it's the lobbyists who set up the system the way it is now.

As for limiting cash to the pols district or state, that sounds pretty good.

2. I think the "return" you talk about usually goes the the Co's they
represent, and not really to the lobbyists themselves.

3. Who are then remunerated by said company.
Believe me, the lobbyists and the corps for which they lobby, LOVE this system.

4. This is true but
I'm sure the lobbyists extract their pound of flesh, parasites that they are.
