I guess I missed the memo re: Frist won't run again.
Where have I been?!

So what reason is he giving for sitting out the upcoming election? And what do you think is the REAL reason? Scandal and corruption to which he is tied? Or is he wanting to go back to his practice, where he can utilize his spectacular, uncanny diagnosis ability, as featured in the Schiavo controversy?

Of all the BIG news I've missed, I'm just amazed that this one slipped by me. That's a good reason to have a hot toddy at 10AM on a Sunday morning!

7. LOL...as IF!
Good, though. If I never have to see that bastard standing on the Senate floor again, it'll be too soon.

5. He wants to run for President
Dole established a policy that they feel they must now follow. You can't keep your Senate position and run for President at the same time....Kerry and Leiberman didn't follow that policy but Republicans are retarded..

6. He said it when he ran for the Senate. He would only serve ONE TERM.
I don't know about any memo, but he has repeated that promise several times.

8. I read it in the article I posted in LBN...
that Lott's decision to run or not will hinge on whether or not he feels he can take back the leadership position. Pundits don't think that he can, and his family doesn't want him to run again...so the scale is tipping toward the Senate floor being absent of TWO bastards! :bounce:

10. I know how bad things have gotten when I start thinking that Lott
isn't as BAD as a lot of the rest of the B's in the Senate!

I do hope there will be more than 2 Pubs decide to leave the Senate!!!

12. You know, as a Mississippian, I have to like him a little bit...
if for no other reason, for him being a thorn in Bush's side since Bush scorned him after his Strom comment. He's taken some pot shots at the administration since then...especially during the aftermath of Katrina. And I have to give him credit for fighting like hell for Mississippians affected by Katrina, on the floor of the Senate. We would not have received what federal attention we did receive had it not been for having as powerful a senator as Lott.

He's not been Bush's favorite senator recently. Here's a pretty good article detailing the soap opera between Lott and Bush:

9. I would love to see him get out of politics. If he stays
in I hope he moves to another state. We have plenty other pious, greedy, smartass people to run.

14. Would he be reelected if he decided to run again...
Edited on Sun Jan-08-06 11:29 AM by Maddy McCall
especially with the taint of corruption that is hanging around him?

Could it be that he will completely leave the political scene?

On edit, maybe Fox will offer him his own show. He could have the time slot opposite Scarborough on MSNBC...then there's be two defamed Republican politicos battling it out for primetime TV ratings...that'd be better than having to see his ugly mug on CSPAN anymore. :D

15. I was going to ask that same question.
If Moore can easily beat Pickering, why couldn't he run against Lott and also win?

20. Lott is a senior senator. Pickering is a junior congressman.
There's just no comparison in their political capital. Lott has much. Pickering is a fledgling still wet behind the ears.

16. Fritz has long been the GOP frontrunner for their 2008 nod. If the GOP has
their way, and we know how *that* works, he could well be the next President of the USA... With diebold's blessing of course.

18. Have you ever seen Frist speak?
The idea that a cold fish like this could ever be president without massive election fraud is ludicrous. He makes Lieberman look charismatic.

The GOP is not infallible. Sometimes, they pick a loser.

19. Cat Killer's running for President
Quick, Congress!!! Pass a constitutional amendment allowing cats 1 year of age or older to vote! Every kitty would not only vote Frist out, but also scratch his eyes out as revenge for the fellow felines he murdered
