Schumer's...disturbing message to the Netroots via bloggers
Edited on Fri Mar-31-06 07:10 PM by Rose Siding
From Pachacutec at fdl

(I've chopped this up a little, but the points aren't corrupted)
On Wednesday afternoon, the DSCC and the DCCC held a conference call with some bloggers.....

.....Schumer had some words for us about what he thought we bloggers should do, what he assumes you think (he was kind enough to tell us), and what he thinks of Feingold’s censure resolution.

Senator Schumer said...

snip>
"One thing you all can do is encourage your readers to turn out, and I would argue to you the best reason to. . . the best way to get your readers to turn out is to say, “Don’t let George Bush get away with anything more!” That, I think, would motivate just about every Democrat, from the most conservative to the most liberal, more than any other message. Maybe I’m wrong, and we’ll continue the discussion, but that’s what I feel out there."

That’s how he ended the call....

"Turn out"? TURN OUT?

Yeah, yeah, yeah, *of course* turn out - but OMG! Does he think we're getting our information out here by SMOKE SIGNAL?
or maybe we're tapping out Morse code? When the ship steams in next month, be sure that everyone votes!

Bless his heart, I don't think he understands that censure AND the ports mess are *both* reflective of Bush's incompetence - *both* can be used effectively to hammer him.

12. Oh, I like Schumer -and he just put forward a good bill on NSA spying
Bill Would Speed Challenge to Surveillance
WASHINGTON, March 29 — Senator Charles E. Schumer, Democrat of New York, introduced a bill Wednesday that would put lawsuits challenging the National Security Agency's domestic surveillance program on a fast track to the Supreme Court.

That's good, but it doesn't address the fact that Bush already broke the law.

I agree with him lots of the time. It's not like I want a divorce or anything ;)

His dismissive attitude about a potentially valuable asset steams me.

7. Maybe I did snip too much- This followed a pan of the censure resolution
It seems to me that voting is an awfully low bar for many of us right now.

Is that really the extent of the exchange he's looking for? -beyond donations to his DSCC, that is. There are no other areas that interest him now? -no pressure to be applied to any agency, no letters to write, no.....direction?

9. Where was Schumer today (March 31, 2006)?
Was he supporting Feingold's censure resolution or was he letting Bush get away with still more?

I really have a hard time "bleeding for Schumer." But...you know this DU'er lived in NYC for a long time...and just because I NOW live in NC doesn't mean I can give Schurmer a BREAK HEARE!!!

Schumer/Lieberman.......TWINS!!! and there are "Triplits and Quintuplettes after them!

BOOT THEM OUT!!! They are PAID FOR THEIR SOULS...BOUGHT OUT...by "Special Interests" they NO LONGER SPEAK TO AMERICANS!

11. Obviously, he doesn't "get"
that we're tired of showing up when our representatives don't represent. It will be a cold day in hell when I give money to the democratic party. They are not doing what I want.
