The United States is a little slow sometimes -
Maybe we are not the swiftest people (I SEE THE PUN) but we get it right at the end of the day.

We will do so now, too.

B*sh, I can't tell you how much I dislike him, what he did to our family - but I know, shit happens, and for a reason - Karma.

Those comments by seasoned military - they aren't the only persons that think so - that is the scary thing.

This spring and summer will be scary for alot of us.

I do trust the US people to get it right in the end, though - If you didn't think so you could go crazy.

1. Winston Churchill quote
Americans can always be counted on to do the right thing...after they have exhausted all other possibilities.

2. We're no better or worse than any other nationality
To say otherwise is irrational.

This is a country with a population as big and varied as Europe. No one would think of attributing specific characteristics like this to all Europeans. Neither should one do it to Americans.

4. The United States of America -
It is OUR country, paid for in 200 years of our blood.

This little prick makes little difference.

We stand for SOMETHING - we really do.

Churchill was right in 42 - that we faced a new dark age, with the Hitler assault.

We did the right thing then, late - and we will do so now.

Watch the pictures you post, some of us know where those pictures come from.

My father was there when Buchenwald was liberated - where were you?? And liberated it with an American army.

Don't do that,

Joe

Now like I said before:

7. Probably not -
Someone posted a picture from a camp and I called on it, thats all.

Sort of a belief -

I think the US is greater than the sum of the B*sh parts, thats all.

Only, some of my family liberated some of those camps as another part of my family died in those camps, and I have a real problem with putting "W" in any of the equations that reckon it with the problem, certainly not by anyone without a clue to the situation.

SO, you probably understand fine -

9. Your family's story(s) of helping liberate people
is something that you should post for us here at DU when and if you can

It would make for the most interesting reading, and these stories need to be kept being told. So if you can post one once is a while I would be most appreciative.

Also it would be a good collection to have in your Journal.

Seriously please publish a story here and there when you can, history can not be forgotten.

The price that people have paid is too much to be swept away with the passing decades.

Not a belief, a fact the US is a great country even with * & company.

13. When you insult all the people in my country
Edited on Fri Mar-31-06 09:42 PM by melody
Or even most of the people in my country (I don't care where you are from), you're showing your own prejudice
against them. It has nothing to do with the country itself and everything to do with you.

Our record (good and bad) stands for itself and will speak through time, once all the US flag wavers AND Ameriphobes are gone.

19. I have no prejudice, Melody -
Except against Japan, I suppose.

Melody, in 1942-45 - there really was a dark age coming, Mr Churchill was VERY correct.

If you have any doubt the United States stopped this, please don't continue reading this.

This country is a lot greater than its current president, a lot greater.

There is a lot of history to write post 2008 - one thing is sure, "W" will not be this countries President after then.

I do believe in the US, and that is MY country.

And this country did save the world once, they did, our ancestors did.

So, sure, I am an American in spite of ole "W".

8. No, as a Nation we are way beyond slow... we are "challenged"
Look at education, health care, trade deficit, alternative energy, and a host of other sectors and compare our achievements those to other countries.... no - we are way behind the curve and getting further behind.

The only three things I see we do better than most are:

a) Blowing stuff up.

b) Entertainment.

c) Marketing.

Not exactly the things I would consider the domain of an advanced civilization.

10. You don't know a Goddamn thing ,do you??
It is ok, many of us don't.

I wrote a book, it bothered me so much I had to that, for them - took six years of my life.

I think your conclusions are cute Maze, thats it -

Our country saved the world - and I mean literally.

This guy pretending to be a president - IS HE??

Don't think so - and that IS the question.

Joe

17. This sounds terrible the way you said it -
I am sorry if that came out that way -

I wrote -

ON A WING AND A PRAYER - Memories of a Fighter Pilot and a Nurse in WWII

Xlibra Publishing

Amazon or Boarders will link to it.

I did not mean it to come out that way - really. Clearly, you cared enough to be here now.

I think a lot of that.

11. Every nation has its deficits ... every one
We have ours, but so do all other countries.

This is the only culture I have. My people have been here for a couple of hundred years. It's as
worthy and decent as *any* human culture. If you don't believe that, you've not spent much time in
other countries.

15. I don't think so -
This prick just makes it seem like it is so - but it is not.

About half of my fathers family was assasinated as they tried to flee Prortugal in 1900 - so you can understand my lack of sympathy -

I do know, the things that make you an American are those things you really believe in, are willing to die for.

I spent a lot of time in Europe - makes me so glad I live in America, too

We are MORE worthy than any other culture - we saved the world -we really did. Our parents did.

B*sh can never take that away from us, never.

The United States is special - B*sh just dims that fact.

21. *I* think we're special, because it's my country, but...
Other peoples' mileage will vary.

The goals and dreams of one group of people are not those of another.

I don't think we're any better than any other country but I DEFINITELY don't think we're worse either.
That's one major obstacle the left has -- its Euroworship. I love Europe, it's the land of my ancestors,
but it has as many problems as we do in various ways.
