Famed local nightspot Jammin Music Club burned to the ground Saturday morning. Current estimates of damage range from 2 to 3 million baht Jammin owner Mel Purdue told Phuket Post. He explained, "I was at home when I got a phone call from the club manager at about 6 am. By the time I arrived at the club the fire truck had already put out the fire. The damage is extensive and I think it will take at least a month for the place to be renovated but we will still keep all the staff employed though."

Klay Songdacha, Club Manager and a group of friends were drinking together on the second floor of another building two blocks away at the time of the fire and told the Post what he saw, "We smelt something burning and when we went outside we saw smoke coming out of the building. We tried to use fire extinguishers to put out the fire but when we opened the door billows of smoke kept us from proceeding. The fire trucks took only 20 minutes to put out the fire but by then a huge amount of damage had been done. We think the fire may have been caused by an electrical problem as it was already daylight and many people were in the area so arson does not seem likely."

Pol Lt Col Sa-nguan Muangtam told Phuket Post that it is too early to conclude what caused the fire as his officers are still investigating
