Condi at the empty stadium in Blackburn (pic)

She visited a school in this community that is 25 percent Muslim, but many of the kids were kept home for the day by protesting parents. Others cut classes to join the protests.

Rice was supposed to attend a local football match but it was moved to Monday night for better television coverage. So a brief ceremony to present her with a jersey took place in an empty 32,000-seat stadium.

The Independent accompanied its account with a cartoon depicting a restaurant called "Blackburn Tandoori" with a sign from the management on its front door: "We regret we do not serve Rice."

Many British papers chided Rice for not knowing the reference to "4,000 holes in Blackburn, Lancashire" in the Beatles song "A Day in the Life." (Pop quiz answer: a reported census of local potholes).

10. Have you seen the little piggies?
In their styes with all their backing
They don't care what goes on around
In their eyes there's something lacking
What they need's a damn good whacking.

2. Git back, Condi. Git back to where you once belonged.
If her diplomatic forays are no more successful than this one, maybe Condiliar will have to step down from her Cabinet post and take a job waiting tables at a truckstop.

I bet she could get work in Odessa, Texas, maybe. Dubya probably has a lot of folks out there he's still tight with, and one of them could place a few calls...

8. Bush in Mexico
...at the same time of Rice's visit Bush was "greeted" by a few dancers in an empty field ...the picture was telling and President Fox said "there will be NO agreements between these two presidents ....that is the job of the American Congress....."...it was sooo obvious that Bush was UNWELCOMED....I would love to see pictures of his "visits" around the world and not forgetting.....from the very start all the Londoners who protested and kept the Chimp from sight seeing trips.....to his trip to South America......Korea...with all the riots and his trip to China where he was forced to go to a town that had 300 people who never heard of Him...to ride a Yak....what an utter disgrace he is to who we thought we were as Americans.

7. Damn, they even lie about what music they like
I can understand someone liking the Beatles and not knowing phrases from "Revolution 9" or other arcane trivia that diehard fans like me would know.

But no Beatles fan could possibly be ignorant of that line from "A Day in the Life."

Why they hell is she lying about being a Beatles fan? Trying to schmooze the Brits?

Just like the 1000's of mistakes she's made in Iraq. But instead of potholes it's human beings.

Here's a couple of her mistakes from last week:

17. Agreed, except
Edited on Sat Apr-01-06 05:55 PM by tenshi816
that the 4,000 holes didn't refer to potholes. It referred to the tiny holes left in the arms of children who had the smallpox vaccination.

Edited to add that this was in the news yesterday and I'll try to add the link. It was a surprise to me too.

12. In the background, the " E R S " on the bleachers is spelled all wrong.
It should read:

" 1 0 0 0 E R R O R S "

15. Why is she over there?
Doesn't she have a job to do? Who IS running the Iraq war and our so-called affairs of state? I have a mental image of Bush's US as a giant rudderless ship tossing about on the ocean, with the rest of us in lifeboats ready to jump overboard.
