Youth minister smites dodgeball opponent
Saturday, April 1, 2006 Posted: 0354 GMT (1154 HKT)

LIBERTY, Missouri (AP) -- A youth minister was charged with assault for allegedly knocking down a 16-year-old boy and kicking him in the groin after taking a head shot from the teen in a dodgeball game.

David M. Boudreaux, 27, was charged Wednesday with one count of third-degree assault. According to court documents, the incident happened in February at Crescent Lake Christian Academy.

Authorities said the teen missed Boudreaux with one throw but then knocked the youth minister's glasses off with the next.

The boy apologized, authorities said, but Boudreaux pushed him backward, and when the teen got up again Boudreaux kicked him in the groin and left.

1. If you can't handle a head shot then don't play dodge ball!
What a total loser, this is one assault charge I will stand behind.

Something most kids figure out by the time they are, say 10.

7. Yeah, guess this was the youth ministers first game of dodge ball.
Although what he did to the kid is what most kids would do to each other. Guess he forgot about being an adult.

5. Agreed. It's real tough to envision Jesus, robe and sandals flapping,
charging the center line to drill Peter or Thomas with a mighty smitey throw of a dodgeball.

"You're OUT, punk!" the Savior yells as Peter slumps to the sidelines.

Onlookers cheer wildly (probably the same villagers who tried to stone the woman taken in adultery).

Etc.

3. The Devil stalks every dodgeball court I've ever seen.
I think he scored one for the team in this incident.

NOT.

As the Good Book said - and I believe from this story it is likely still true today -

"Jesus wept."

9. "Crescent Lake Christian Academy" says it all - it's a rightwinger place
Sane Christians don't have Christians schools called "Christian Academy".

There's the website, complete with a message in Christian Love from the pastor, Mike Boudreaux, who I imagine is David's father, but could be a brother.

Yes, this is a rightwinger school, I would bet much money on that - anti-abortion, anti-gay, pro-Shrubbie, pro-child-abuse.

11. Youth Ministry Our investment in the future
In Psalm 71:17 David wrote: “O God, You have taught me from my youth, and I still declare Your wondrous deeds”. Crescent Lake’s youth ministries are contemporary, relevant, and high impact. Our youth leaders are young, energetic people who demonstrate their love for Jesus and each other though our Youth Church programs and events. In 30 years we’ve raised a lot of leaders and many of our leaders today are products of the very programs they now lead.
