Second go-around. Define "journalism."
And yes, please use YOUR OWN WORDS. :)

1. A journalist should most certainly be "fair and balanced"
And not in the certain network's way of saying it. He or she should always try and ferret out the truth, no matter how ugly it may get and no matter what party is in power at the time. Neutrality. That's a journalists job. Report the news, don't try to be the news.

2. Why?
Definitions are purpose-based things, and you've given no purpose...

3. Huh?
Do you mean, what is the purpose of objectivity and neutrality on the part of journalists and journalism in general?

6. No. What's the purpose of the definition?
Example:

Define "network".

Depending on my purposes, I might start blabbing about computers, or, with a different purpose, I might start blabbing about schmoozing, ass-kissing, etc.

Things are defined, and the way they are, for REASONS. Why do you want "journalism" defined? what use will its definition be putt to?

4. Depends on if it's a noun or a verb.
"Journalist" as a noun is bad: It is a person who sits around on his or her ass making lots of money to pass on the lies of people in power.

"Journalist" as a verb is good: It means to go out and find the truth, and then to disseminate it to the public so they can make informed choices about their lives and their country.

5. Documenting what one sees, hears, experiences.
There are different types of journalism of course. Investigative journalism would be more in-depth.

7. Ok, here goes:
An old artform performed by people worldwide up until the late 1980's. At that time, journalism began the great decline that resulted in it's recent death, and extinction. During their lifetime, journalists would observe things, and then objectively relate their observations to others.

8. Making shit up, or toning shit down, for Corpo masters and their clients?
Or talking about shit that isn't imposrtant but making it sound imposrtant?

Oh! Becoming buddies with the politicians that are the focus of the media!
