1. Wow!
Our backgrounds are really really similar. However at age sixteen I ran away got a job and a sleeping room and at seventeen years old in 1951 I joined the Navy and went to war in Korea where I decided war was a whole lot worse than childhood.

But I stuck it out and now I have a nice military pension and medical care in that bastion of socialized medical care--the VA hospitals.

Perhaps you might try that course of action.
