Her voice was quivering & she seemed nervous when she first began speaking, which is uncharacteristic for her.
Two things irked me. She mentioned "those who died so that Iraq could be sovereign." I'd like the military recruiters to include that in their sales pitches & see how many would sign up. I also wondered how many families who lost loved ones were irked at that comment. We were told that we were in "imminent danger"; that's what the snake salesman used to sell the sheeple.
The second thing that rubbed me the wrong way was, once she got comfortable with the generally soft questions, she laughed heartily at something Jack Straw said. Considering the circumstances, it was in poor taste. She's in Iraq where 2300+ Americans have died & over 17,000 have been wounded. There were a number of Iraqi reporters there, as well, who surely didn't forget that hundreds of thousands of their people have been killed/wounded, not to mention that those Iraqis who have survived the hellish situation are living miserably.
But she knew she was there for a short visit & she can return to her safe, comfortable surroundings. I dislike her even more.

also correctly pointed out the way in which Condi slyly misrepresented the reasons we went to war.
Jack Straw seemed to have put her at ease enough that she felt she could quip about his inadvertent comment on the makeup of the new Iraqi government. Straw said something along the lines of "The Iraqis have to make a choice of Mr. A, Mr. B or Mr. C". Condi came back with "Why can't the choices include Ms.A,B or C?". Chuckle, chuckle.

5. That was the comment that I was talking about. |

I've got a great sense of humor; my household revolves around jokes & laughter, so I appreciate light-heartedness as much as anyone. But it wasn't the time or place to crack a joke or to laugh. Comments of grave seriousness & compassion should have been the order of the day.
