Condi Rice is Angry! Form An Iraqi US Friendly Government NOW Dammit!
Edited on Mon Apr-03-06 05:34 AM by leftchick

British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw speaks during a joint press conference with US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice (L), in Baghdad's heavily fortified green zone. Rice and Straw wound up two days of intensive talks with Iraqi leaders pressing them to speed up the formation of a new government but without any indication of a breakthrough.(AFP/David Furst)

<snip>

"We came here to give momentum to the process that is already underway. It is not my responsibility or of Mr Straw to determine who is going to be the prime minister of Iraq," Rice told reporters on Monday.

"That will be determined by Iraqis. But we need a strong, unifying government led by someone who can bring stability and meet the challenges of the Iraqi people."

Straw and Rice wound up two days of intensive talks with Iraqi leaders pressing them to speed up the formation of a government without reporting any immediate signs of concrete progress.

Rice said Iraqi leaders were under pressure from their own people to break the political deadlock and squabbling since the mid-December legislative elections but "that process has to take place quickly".

If they wanted democracy over there why not let the peoples choice stand? I know I know...this is actually quite amusing if it weren't so fucking tragic. I just received a lovely little freeper response on another thread wishing Ben dead. I am sure from some chickenshit coward.

11. The look in her eyes
Is the same as you would expect to see in someone that is about to tighten up the torture rack that you are on.
I have no knowledge of her at all but just a feeling that she enjoys violence.

13. consequences?
so, now that Condi and Jack have stepped up to force Iraqi's to get their stuff together, what do you suppose the consequences will be for Condi/Jack if the Iraqi's don't DO AS THEY'RE TOLD?

Respecting history as I do, I predict the consequences they will suffer will be:

NONE!

Hey, they did their jobs and ASKED. NOT their fault if the Iraqi's are tuned to another channel!

Oh, but there will be consequences. Condi will have an oil freighter named after her: "Condi's Unanswered Questions". Neocon oil baron's haven't lost their sense of humor, after all.......

14. Condi is totally frustrated.
She is seeing the downside of using ultimate force -- once you employ ultimate force, you can't use the potential employment of ultimate force as a threat.

Every parent has experienced this. "Eat your peas or you will get no dessert!" OK, so you don't give the kid dessert. He or she still hasn't eaten those peas. "Be home by 11 or you can't go to the prom.' OK so they stay out all night and forget about the prom. What do you do?

It' always better to negotiate. So you don't like peas, how about you eat a small bite of peas and then a French Fry? How about if you eat your peas, you'll get your favorite dessert. How about, try ten peas and leave the rest. How about, "You can say out past 11 provided you show me that you have all your homework done for the weekend before you leave for the party." How about, let's make a schedule. How early do you have to get up on the day after the party? How late do you think you can stay up and still get up that early? Where can I reach you if I get worried about whether you are OK? How about, I care about you, and I can't sleep unless I know you are safe. If you are going to stay out after 11:00 call and let me know where you are and that you are OK.

The Bush administration and especially Condi need to learn to focus on problem solving and teamwork with others rather than preemptive strikes. Condi would be a better Secretary of State if she had been a parent first. As a parent you learn to negotiate or else.

15. I heard Chomsky this morning on Democracy Now
He said that it's not the occupier's business how their government is run. He says we don't have any rights there, but we do have responsibilities to the victims of our invasion in the way of reparations and accountability for our crimes.
