... I'd like to apologize to baseball fans and Americans in general for what you are about to witness on your television screens. Seeing him in that Reds jacket is enough to crush a girl's spirit.

Nobody asked me,
Jennifer :-)

5. One of the Cubs pitchers was asked if he was thrilled about Bush
He said, really sarcastically, oh, yeah, I'm just THRILLED to be kept waiting two hours while they search all of us, all our equipment, and if we happen to step out of the clubhouse before the game, we have to do it all over again. I think it was Ryan Dempster.

25. Baseball can be telling. 1992 All Atar Game, San Diego. I was there...
GHWB was prez and in attendence. Pre-game ceremony had San Diego native Ted Williams come out to the mound to throw a ceremonial pitch. The crowd was on its feet, cheering for 5 minutes. Teddy throws out the pitch, then they announce that the president will also throw out a ball. They announced Poppy and he was BOOED mercilously! 66,000 baseball fans BOOed him. This is a sitting prez in an election year in a red", military area, getting booed at the Major League All Star game.
We all know what happened after that.

10. only a cable news network...
Would still be referring to Ohio as a Red State when it supported Bush by the thinnest of margins a year and a half ago.

14. They were just goin' nutty on CNN!
The way they continue to carry this man's water... it's nauseating.

"Look at that pitch!! High and tight, strike one!" cried the CNN announcer.

Thing is, the angle was shot from home plate; you couldn't see where the pitch landed. :wtf:

20. Where the hell was he last night?
The first game of the baseball season, of course, was last night on the South Side of Chicago. I suppose a Bush appearance at the true opening game wouldn't have been good for business.

21. Them's fightin' words
The traditional opener is always held in Cincinnati, the birthplace of professional baseball.

Do you guys have a parade? Does your entire city close down as if it's a national holiday?

Damn Chicagoans. :P

33. When you listen to the game on the radio, the ambiance is so much better
and their is always the one person you can clearly hear saying "boo!' whenever there is a bad call or play.

I am that person today.

Now, the Reds DO need some pitching.:sarcasm: (As a total fan, I can say that...we love 'em and we love to bash them)

Sorry Cincinnati, get used to Dumbo, he and his cronies will be making MANY MANY visits to Ohio in the next 6 months.

We will be down on September 10 for a game or two ourselves.
