What's up with the Social Security Report? TPM smells a rat.

Federal law requires that the trust fund report be delivered to Congress each year BEFORE April 1st. None yet. Don't know when it's coming.

In addition, the Republican Congress has not shown any inclination to insist that the law be upheld. A president who changes the intent of Congress with his signing statemens, reserves the right to torture if he wishes, and denies hundreds without charges or access to a lawyer is certainly not going to be bothered with not reporting something, even though the law demands it.

3. There are so many reports that aren't being released...

I read recently there was a report commissioned by Congress thru the Commerce Dept. to investigate the effect of outsourcing. The Commerce Dept released a 12 pg draft that doesn't include the original research and won't release the original research .

So, can't say as I'm actually surprised by the lack of candid reporting... Does make me wonder if they've been looting the trust fund though! I put nothing past them at this point...

Where Is That Counfounded Report


In 2001 the Social Security Trustees released their annual report on March 19.

In 2002 it was March 26.

In 2003 it was March 17.

In 2004 it was March 23.

In 2005 it was March 23.


It is now April 3. I want my damn report .
