If Jeb ran for President...
And won, would you move? I can say absolutely unequivocably, yes. If this little fucker doesn't have us all blown up first.

1. Absolutely--
but I heard that he said he won't. Not that they are a trustworthy bunch that stands by their word or anything. :eyes:

I get the sense he may be concerned about his families scandals coming more to light... :shrub:

3. Please Don't EVEN Go There... I've Made This Comparison
before... just think about it or maybe just look at it when you write it down on paper.

We had Bush I, Then Clinton, Clinton, then Bush II, Bush II, we're getting Hillary shoved at us, that would be ANOTHER Clinton, so now we are thinking it might be ANOTHER Bush??

Given what has gone on in America of late, even though it looks TOTALLY ridiculous I suppose it COULD happen! I just HOPE BEYOND HOPE it NEVER DOES!!

My representative is Cruella (Katherine Harris) and I've lived through too much BUSH for a LIFETIME!

And I SURE DON'T want Hillary either! Guess I'm screwed, but Australia might look good!

8. Jeb v. Hillary in '08! But who will be the vp candidates???
"Bush-Rice '08" That sounds too much like, "I ate bush rice." Yech.

With the corporate media backing the Republican candidate all the way, is there any doubt who would be running the USA (into the ground) until at least 2016?

5. It would be extremely depressing to see Slobberin' Jeb seek and win
the presidency.

I'd be checking flights for Ireland or Japan or one of the far moons of Jupiter.

One thing that may assuage our fears, though, is Bush fatigue. Certainly I can't stand to listen to Dubya speak for more than 3 or 4 seconds, and I think even people who VOTED for him are tired of his bullshit.

He's presiding over consecutive significant failures, both domestic and international, and I just don't think that bodes well for Jeb's chances, at least not in 08.

If the Democrats win the White House in 08, and I think they will, and if the first term of that Democrat is reasonably good and re-electable, that would lessen the odds for Jeb also. He could still run in 2016 but he's be a bit longer in the tooth and his family's connections would not be nearly as strong.

12. If the indictments keep rolling on GOP illuminaries, ellenfl, I have a

feeling the paper-not-vapor movement is going to be huge.

Folks are getting fed up with being fibbed to. Dubya has done a lot of damage to more than just himself.

I hear you that the threat is genuine. No argument from me on that at all.

But damn it, I'm a cockeyed optimist and I'll volunteer for any Democrat who drafts and introduces legislation that Constitutionally demands ballot verification.

I've written to Barbara Boxer (who is VERY articulate on the issue -- an adept, in my opinion), and met in fall of 05 with two of her staff in San Francisco. They were very busy with other things too, but the proposal is still "electronic" but not Dieboldian. Voters show up at their polls. They either have or are given an email address. They can use it as part of their registration for whichever party they prefer. If they don't have a home pc they can use public portals at libraries, party HQs, etc.

The voter votes in the electronic computer. One copy flashes on the screen right there at the site. It is in email form. A copy of the email vote goes to: 1) the voter's home/library email address; 2) his or her chosen party's HQ; 3) the opposing party's HQ; 4) the Sec. of State's office at the State capital; 5) the League of Women Voters, who sponsor most of the debates; and, 6) by subscription only, to media outlets.

There would be very little successful tampering with vote totals if that many sources had verification all at the same time, from the same source, and all sources had no choice but to match. A voting machine prints out the email, with cc's to all destinations. within seconds, all copies and counts must be identical, must match, and is essentially tamper-proof. Even hackers couldn't tamper with totals because the voter's individual email account is part and parcel of his/her voter's registration. A simple pin password would make hacking very, very difficult, and at the very least, all but insurmountable in statewide elections involving hundreds of thousands of people.

That's one of the political projects I'm throwing in with for 2006 and 2008. We're not reallly expecting it to be done next weekend, but there is significant long-term support.

17. Hey ellen, what's the situation down there in Florida? Has Katherine
Harris shot anybody yet? Has Charlie CRIST shot anybody yet? Has anybody shot Charlie Crist?

Is there any talk at all that Harris will have no choice but to withdraw, and that the national and state GOP operatives will try to talk Gallagher into running for the Senate instead of against Crist?

Florida delegation.

Do what you can! Vote early and often!

in living in a foreign country. If the economy collapses, we might not be able to go abroad. The USA will be the world's biggest prison.

9. It's a very tempting thought. Hmmm, I've been wanting to go
to Amsterdam. Only thing is, my daughter lives here in Seattle, and my family lives in Oregon. I'd have to have money to come see them at least twice a year; otherwise I'd miss them so much.
