"the President's inner circle always treated DeLay as a necessary burden."

When legal and ethical questions began spinning around House majority leader Tom DeLay last year, President George W. Bush was publicly supportive. Privately, though, he questioned his fellow Texan's mojo. Bush had scored 10 points higher than DeLay in the Representative's district in 2004, and that was only after Bush had recorded a telephone message to help rally local Republicans.
"I can't believe I had to do robocalls for him," the President said bitingly to an Oval Office visitor.
"They have always seen him as beneath them, more blue collar. He's seen as a useful servant, not someone you would want to vacation with."

16. Well, the Bush family is the bluest of the bluebloods
they've been around since the turn of last century, from great grandpa Bush selling arms to the Kaiser in WW1, Prescott setting up Adolph Hitler with weapons in WW2, all the shenanigans of George HW and now Bush.

All Yale men, I believe. Georgie went to elite prep schools along the way, too.

17. That's it.
Pure and simple. It's not that he is a repulsive criminal. That didn't ever bother them. But the usefulness is gone.

21. Almost like a song ....
The thrill is gone .....
The thrill is gone
The thrill is gone away
The thrill is gone baby
The thrill is gone away
You know you done me wrong baby
And you'll be sorry someday

The thrill is gone
It's gone away from me
The thrill is gone baby
The thrill is gone away from me
Although I'll still live on
But so lonely I'll be

The thrill is gone
It's gone away for good
Oh, the thrill is gone baby
Baby its gone away for good
Someday I know I'll be over it all baby
Just like I know a man should

You know I'm free, free now baby
I'm free from your spell
I'm free, free now
I'm free from your spell
And now that it's over

15. I hope all the other "useful servants" are paying attention.
This is how Bush rewards loyalty. He doesn't just throw people under the bus when he's through with them, he gives them a kick in the nuts for good measure.

"They have always seen him as beneath them, more blue collar."

Christ. That is cold.

30. The first time I ever saw a photo of bush, it was in the FW Star-Telegram.
I had recently moved to Fort Worth. When I saw the photo, my instant reaction was precisely these words: "That is a cold man."

Truer words were never spoken.

28. Translation: DeLay federal indictment imminent
They're running like hell from him only because they know he's going to be indicted by a federal grand jury. It's the only explanation for such bizarre revisionism.
