David Letterman Proves Culture War Is Real (O'Lielly retort)
If this hasn't been posted here already, Blo-Reilly has written his comeback to the Letterman Debacle. Weak.

The two most intense issues in the culture war right now are how to deal with terrorism and what role spirituality should play in the public arena.

The S-P's want little or no public displays of God or religion. That's what drove the attacks on Christmas images and traditions; knock down the big Christian holiday, and the secularists achieve a big victory.

Blah, blah, blah...

Our discussion began with the Christmas controversy. Dave did not see it as a big deal. When I pointed out the absurdity of a library in Memphis, Tennessee OK'ing a manger scene but then telling the woman donating it that she had to remove Jesus, Mary, Joseph and the three Wise Men, Dave said he did not believe the story. And, generally, that was the opinion of the liberal media: There was no Christmas controversy -- the whole thing was fabricated by religious zealots bent on establishing a theocracy.

Blah, blah, Cindy Sheehan, terrorists, blah, blah...

I hope you saw the program. It was a rare display of the culture war on television. I told Dave I respected his views and he should respect mine. I enjoyed the joust.

Sure you did, Billy. Sure you did.

4. War on Christmas....such a compelling issue in our society.
Too bad Bill has to wait another 10 months before he can dust it off and start the war all over again.

7. no war on easter?
Easter is actually THE celebration in the christian calender, with Good Friday its somber beginning....and the phoney xians find the whole thing rather...incomprehensible (Christ was executed, then rose from the dead)....the fakes prefer the easter bunny and all the painted eggs and so on. Too bad we couldn't HAMMER AWAY at the bastards (for example, do they honour Lent, the 40 days before Good Friday? Do they know what Ash Wednesday is (it is the start of Lent)....or do they even give a damn? Do they abstain from meat during Lent? Do they fast on Fridays during Lent?

5. About that manger thingy . . .
the incident might not have been created out of whole cloth, but I find it interesting that the "Brandi Chambless" of the manger story has the same name as a "Focus on the Family" operative.

10. Hmmm . . . very suspicious . . .
Like the guy who drags his children around to demonstrations so his brother-in-law (impersonating a lefty) can pretend to whack 'em with a protest sign.

6. Frankly, I wish Letterman had been a little sharper . . .
From an objective viewpoint (which I have to simulate -- I haven't seen a genuine objective viewpoint for years . . . but never mind) Letterman didn't wipe up the floor with O'Reilly, which is what I was hoping for.

And I think I know why. Both Letterman and O'Reilly are show people. They're into snappy, into facile, into turns of phrase, and into the effectiveness of their personal charisma. But O'Reilly has legions of droids who marshall factettes and factoids for him, while Letterman has . . . comedy writers.

I know who I'd prefer to watch, but I also realize that Letterman didn't score any real hits on O'Reilly, because he simply wasn't credible on the facts.

Now anyone who knows of O'Reilly knows he'd lie about anything if it got him one more rating point, so from that point of view he had zero credibility and Letterman didn't need to have command of the facts -- but that ain't the way it works with the wingnutariat.

They're all saying that Letterman never laid a glove on O'Reilly and chanting "hooyah" like it meant something.

Didn't you mean lielettes and lieloids I thought so.

I wish Dave had subtitles for him, like: That was a lie. Here comes another lie. Oops little fib there.

11. Bill O'Reilly enjoys having his asshole pucker up and retreat to
his pie hole. Al Franken did it to Billy also. Especially when he caught him in a few down right lies.

Dave punched O'Reilly out!

14. Bill wanted Dave to do this.
He feeds off of this shit. Witness this screed, which he probably wrote before he appeared on The Late Show. If Dave didn't say what he thinks, then Bill would have nothing to whine about. :eyes:

15. O'Reilly is right!
War, profiteering, corruption, lack of Homeland Security, poverty, medical crisis, massive debt, etc.

These things do not matter.

Now the color of napkins allowed in a solitary elementary school! There is where are attention should be!

:sarcasm:
