Limbaugh dining with a Supreme Court justice...
(I didn't see anything on DU about this, and I apologize if this topic has been covered).

I was listening to Limbaugh the other day (yes, I took one for the team and tuned in). It's a good thing I tuned in because I was outraged at what I heard.

Limbaugh had a small dinner party a couple of weeks ago. Among the guests were heavyweights from the show "24" and a few friends. I was astounded to hear that Clarence Thomas and his wife were present.

Is it just me, or is anyone else outraged that a United States Supreme Court Justice would break bread with a rabid, right-wing propagandist and yes-boy water carrier for the Bush Administration?

I'm not saying that Justice Thomas can't have friends. It's no big surprise that his friends would be conservative and share his political viewpoints. I wouldn't be as concerned, if Thomas had dined with George Will or had coffee and conversation with William F. Buckley. However, slopping down ribs and wine coolers in the living room owned by a man who lies, distorts and guffaws for 15 hours a week---seems a bit undignified for a United States Supreme Court Justice.

Limbaugh's act is bottomless pit of arrogance and immaturity. He panders to bullies. He calls Dick Durban "Dick Turban" and refers to Harry Reid as "Dingy Harry." He name calls like a fiendish fourth grader and has a link on his site where fans of torture can purchase "Club Gitmo" coffee mugs and caps. He once asserted that Hillary Clinton was involved in Vince Foster's death and that Foster may have been killed in an apartment owned by the Clintons. This guy is someone with whom a Supreme Court Justice wants to spend his weekends?

There are 9 Supreme Court Justices in this great nation. We trust them to have stellar judgment, intelligence and dignity--in addition to upholding our Constitution.

Hanging out by the pool with Rush Limbaugh demonstrates very clearly that our nation's Supreme Court has at least one member who has some serious issues with judgment and truth.

4. I think Thomas married Rush to his last beard
Who do you think a right-wing wacko like Thomas is going to hang out with, Bill Maher or George Clooney? The problem is that Thomas can't be fired. But Rush can.

6. Thomas performed Limbaugh's wedding ceremony
It's not surprising that they'd break bread together.

8. Lest we forget ...
"... at least one member who has some serious issues with judgment and truth."

Make that TWO. Wonder what gesture Scalia came up with when he found out he wasn't invited.

9. Married by Thomas IN HIS HOUSE, no less...
Edited on Wed Apr-05-06 02:47 PM by Hand
You could look it up:

Limbaugh was first married on September 24, 1977 to Roxy Maxine McNeely, a sales secretary at radio station WHB in Kansas City. They were married at the Centenary United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau. In March 1980, Roxy McNeely filed for divorce, citing "incompatibility". They were formally divorced on July 10, 1980.

In 1983, Limbaugh married Michelle Sixta, a college student and usherette at the Kansas City Royals Stadium Club. She left him in December 1988 and their divorce was finalized in 1990. She remarried the following year.

In 1990, Limbaugh met Marta Fitzgerald, a married 35-year-old aerobics instructor, when she contacted him via the Compuserve online service. After Fitzgerald divorced her third husband, the two were married on May 27, 1994 at the house of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. The ceremony was officiated by Thomas himself. Also in attendance at the wedding were William Bennett, James Carville, and Mary Matalin.

Random= is a term I've heard used in regards to people considered low life.
