Santorum FUMING over opposition to Alito

PHILADELPHIA -- On the eve of Senate confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito, conservatives rallied in defense of religious liberty and in favor of reforming the federal courts.

"Justice Sunday III" was held in the state where Alito, generally supported by conservatives, sits on the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania, the No. 3 Senate Republican, told the gathering that liberal judges are "destroying traditional morality, creating a new moral code and prohibiting any dissent."

"The only way to restore this republic our founders envisioned is to elevate honorable jurists like Samuel Alito," Santorum said. "Unfortunately, the Democrats on the Judiciary Committee seem poised to drag these hearings into the gutter, so they can continue their far left judicial activism on the Supreme Court."...

The Rev. Jerry Falwell and Focus on the Family founder James Dobson also attended the gathering at Greater Exodus Baptist Church.

7. I wish I could have joined the protestors!
I line in Ga. and Phili is way too far to drive!

Across the street, about 150 protesters held signs and chanted. Organizers, including AIDS activists and abortion rights supporters, maintain that sponsors of "Justice Sunday" back a dangerous mixing of church and state and an agenda that threatens civil rights.

"Real justice does not tolerate hatred. Real justice is not about inequality. Real justice is about diversity," the Rev. Jeffery H. Jordan, senior pastor of the Metropolitan Community Church of Philadelphia, told the cheering crowd.

Was it "opposite day"?

How dare the Democrats in the Senate use Alito's rulings and comments to drag him through the gutter.

15. " ... rallied in defense of religious liberty ..," eh?
He certainly wasn't rallying for MINE.

He was trying to make it so that he could BULLY me, by putting HIS conservative Christian symbols up all over the place, on MY nickel (through taxes). I doubt he would be asking my progressively-minded Christian friends what THEY would want put up, or my Muslim friends, etc. I doubt the symbols of my faith/philosophy, Religious Science, would be put up on the taxpayer's nickel.

So, Ricky, whenever you use the term, "justice," I'm going to call you on it - and expose you for the bullying hypocrite that you are, along with your buddies Dobson and Falwell.

And, by the way, Ricky, I have a law degree, and know enough to peg your "activist judge" nonsense as just that - PURE NONSENSE.

17. Justice Sunday is dangerous
America is not all extreme right wing baptist. Religious extremism is tainting our justice system at the highest level.
These people are evil and need to be stopped.
