Penguin launches program for Christian books
Penguin Group is launching a program to publish Christian books, a growing field where most major book publishers already have separate religious imprints.

The new Penguin Praise program gives the publisher, which has printed religious titles for a decade, more flexibility by allowing authors to be published under the Praise logo or under their original imprint, depending on how the publisher plans to market the book, said Joel Fotinos, Penguin's director of religious publishing.

The move "gives (Penguin) more clout and focus in the Christian market," said Lorraine Shanley, a principal at publishing consultant firm Market Partners International. "All of the majors have developed Christian imprints to this is Penguin's answer to that."

"Praise will be able to publish a greater array of Christian titles," Mr. Fotinos said. Titles by bestselling authors T.D. Jakes and the team of Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins will be among the first books to fall under the Praise logo.

1. pearson's penguin

Pearson does "most" of its business turnover in american textbooks. I'm sure
that their arms were twisted on threat of losing that revenue stream.. so
penguin, a division of pearson, leaps up to kiss that behind.

The concentration of publishing is causing editorial and ontological
corruption of our social systems of record and knowledge. The media
concentration is one of the core problems to crack when the dems take
back power.
