DOVER, Del. - An elementary school teacher accused of having sex with a 13-year-old student has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of rape, authorities said.

The teacher allegedly had sex with the boy 28 times during the last week of March, and on at least one occasion allowed the boy’s 12-year-old friend to watch, authorities said. She also gave the students alcohol, according to New Castle County Police.

Rachel Holt, 34, a science teacher at Claymont Elementary School, was arrested early Tuesday and charged with rape, providing alcohol to a minor and unlawfully dealing with a child, authorities said. Acting county Police Chief Lt. Col. Scott McLaren said the boy’s father contacted authorities after becoming suspicious that his son was having an inappropriate relationship with his teacher. Authorities said Holt took the boy out for dinner and allowed him to drive her vehicle.

Ellen Marie Cooper, a staff attorney for Brandywine School District, refused to discuss Holt’s employment status but said a substitute teacher was conducting her classes.

Maybe they're the "weaker" sex and all, but they've got American men by the balls. For example, if you're in a meeting at work and when a guy raises his voice a little bit or disagrees with a woman too strongly, well.. that's just "rude" and "ungentlemanly", but when a woman does it, it's called "assertive"! Not many 13 year old males resist, they are too busy volunteering. That is the age when the male brain descends from the head, to a lower place in the body, just ask me, my brain still hasn't completed the return trip, and I am older than primeval mud!:9
Thing is, when you reach a certain age, and want to live in society, you must start thinking about others, and not always put your own desires first. Plenty of girls are in a race to grow up. Others have emotional issues from previous abuses.

It doesn't make it right either way. It's exploitative and wrong at that age. Just go to an elementary or middle school and LOOK at the 6th graders. My sister is a 6th grade teacher and I've been in there. Those boy's bodies might be starting to mature, but they're minds certainly aren't. It's wrong, and evil to exploit them like this, regardless of anyone's sex.

It would shock me if anyone who has a 13 year old child, or close relative, would be ok with this. I've never met a 13 year old who would come close to being called mature. They WANT to be mature, and in retrospect they might think they were more mature than they are, but they're not.

This isn't being a 17 year old high school senior leering at the hot 22 year old teachers aide. Even that would have been very wrong on the 22 year old's part if she were to have participated in anything.

Both partners need to be mature enough to handle resulting offspring. In the world we now live in, there is no way a 13 year old biological father is able to fulfill the responsibilities involved. I'm "old fashion". If I help make a child, there is no way I can morally not help raise it.
I got married in 1968, the deal was that we would wait to have children, turned out that my wife was spitting out the birth control pills, and, my daughter was born about 8 months into the marriage. Once I got used to the idea, and then got to hold my kid in my arms, it was the best thing ever to happen in my life. Being a father, and then a grandfather, is just about the greatest thing ever. Several times a day, someone says, "I love you grampa", and I get a hug. It sure is enough for me.
