The real reason for wiretaps. Spying on political opponents.
A gentleman I know, who was a congressional candidate in 2002, and 2004 filed a FOIA request with the gov't, for anything they have pertaining to him. Turns out that they've been monitoring his telephone calls for over 2 years.

He really fit's the mold of a terrorist. Former Monk (Franciscan, I believe, but I'll have to check it out further), Pacifist, Peace Activist, and Democrat. I'll post some more info as I get it. I got the info second hand last night from another candidate who had a conversation with him.

I'll probably talk to him personally on Tuesday night and get it straight from the horse's mouth.

In the meantime, I'd like to give a big "Howdy Ho" to Agent Mike and his buddies, at NSA and the FBI, just in case they're listening.

2. Smells like Watergate and Sounds like impeachment!!!!
I was pretty young, but wasn't this what mainly brought Nixon down? I ran for Congress in 1990 from the way left against a very conservative (Democrat in name only) opponent. I have also put together quite a few protests, vigils and forums. There have been many times I felt that my phone has been bugged.

My response to the Feds.....FUCK YOU!!!!!!!!!!

5. No kidding? Why would Bush Co. eavesdrop on political rivals?
You would expect them to get a court order in any case.
:sarcasm:

8. If this story holds water,
Your friend needs to contact the ACLU right away! Although it may not be strictly necessary, a plaintiff "with standing," meaning someone who's been wronged by this operation, is worth his weight in gold, right now.
This is a critically important issue and every gun must be primed and loaded. Please help.
