This missing father is neither white or female, so you know how quickly MSM will jump on this story. He's already been missing since 11/29 with very few leads. He needs medication and may have memory loss. The family has asked for nationwide coverage, I found this on Craigslist. It just breaks my heart.

The 'to-do' list has lots of ideas for those not in the San Francisco/Bay Area to help.

Let's DU this folks.

3. This will sound bizarre, but
I emailed Joe Scarborough. His distraction of the week has been the missing honeymooner story. I challegend him to prove he's not just interested in rich white Americans from Uppercrustonia. Maybe if he's bombarded.. unlikely, but..

4. You know, that's just 'bizarre' enough to maybe work!
I'll send an email to him too (then scrub my keyboard LOL!) - he's gotta be wondering where his next storyline is going to be coming from, & your challenge just might make this one appealing to him. If it works, that's a plus - if it doesn't ... well, it just confirms my opinion of him.

Good thinking!

5. that is excellent. I will do the same in the AM. keep this kicked and
make it a no brainer for anyone on the thread, post the email addy for him in the subject line of your reply. Perhaps he'll get DU'd and have to do something? That would be fantastic.

thanks. I don't think it's bizarre at all. I am going to email every news outlet in the AM.

9. There are now flyers in my neighborhood, very close to the park.
It's troubling though, as GG Park is so huge, you could live there for months without anyone noticing you. :(

10. I saw a posting from a former homeless person last night that
recommended people look on the lake trails- he said he disappeared there for days. It's tragic really, this should not happen. here is the post and the location:

# Please Keep Me Anonymous Says:

From being homeless once or twice in GG Park, I know of a few places that people “hide out”. It’s pretty rough but if anyone is willing to venture into the trails behind Lloyd Lake, that might produce some good leads. I’m going on speculation here, because if your friend was at all in GG park and scared of some of the inhabitants- which, I’d understand his fear…… then he’d most likely have done what I did and sought privacy. There’s plenty of little hideouts that allowed me to get away for days at a time- mostly without seeing or hearing a soul (save for the nearby traffic). If I can be of help, email me back……. but out of privacy I refuse to give you my real name. ;-)

Thanks

11. Idea; I will contact my friends at the Coalition on Homelessness.
Duh! Maybe we can get an ad in the Streetsheet and / or maybe they will have ideas.

I should have thought of this last MONTH. :(

12. Okay -- The StreetSheet will run his information in their next
issue (2/1) as they got the info too late for January.

This means, too, that advocates for the homeless in SF have the information already.

It was pointed out to me by the Editor at the Streetsheet that 35 SF cops are detailed to deal only with the homeless community.

Does Jerry's family know that? Because that unit should be charged with this case, in that context.

14. I hope what you love is our column but love in general
me, too, lol!

I LOVE the Coalition on Homelessness in San Francisco. I've never met a harder working group of gentle, smart and effective people. They are truly a gift.

16. Indeed
do you work for them?

I discovered the Street Sheet only a couple of months ago, for some additional reading for my 40-minute BART ride. Now I get it every month on day 1, and tip the hell out of them, too

the New Orleans reporting gave me chills

17. Doug and I gratefully do the political comedy column
every month -- although, every other month, I invite other comedy writers to take on the column, to widen the circle of our supporters. It's worked very well!

I also love the StreetSheet. Real reporting about issues no one else covers.

(Thank you, Chance, Editor and Magician.)

My editor has the family's contact info. This won't be the first time he's helped look for a missing person. :(
