Blair impeachment over Iraq urged

Prime Minister Tony Blair should be impeached over the war in Iraq, a former top British soldier has said. The ex-UN commander in Bosnia General Sir Michael Rose said Mr Blair had to take responsibility for his actions.

"To go to war on what turns out to be false grounds is something that no one should be allowed to walk away from," he told BBC Radio 4's Today programme. <My emboldening>

<snip>

General Sir Michael said the consequences for Iraq and the war on terror had been "quite disastrous".

"Certainly from a soldier's perspective there can't be any more serious decision taken by a prime minister than declaring war," he said.

1. Hmmm, i'd wager the british people would agree
So blair wonders from his bunker, why labour party fortunes are declining.

Nobody is responsible.

4. I Marvel At This, Too,...
...but would the Tories have been only a different package of the same poison?

The Liberal Party (which, if I understand correctly, is more moderate) would have had to increase their numbers by a factor of 5 or 6 to take power. maybe many English voters didn't see an alternative.

I'd LOVE to see a nice hefty Vote Of No Confidence!

8. No, the Tories would be much, MUCH worse.
It'd be like the second coming of Reagan and Thatcher. Hideous.

5. yep, like the American people sent Bush back too
Even since that poll, more information has come out to the deliberate
deceptions involved in going to war. Were the poll held today, i'm
not so sure it would produce the same result.

Would bush win, if they re-ran the poll this month? The lies, corruption
and the failed cesspool of violence that is post-invasion iraq eat away
at these mens' credibility like acid.

These neocons are like Aliens from the film, their blood drips this
corrupting acid that eats through all decency. And they kill people
with their war-teeth until they can lay some eggs for some more aliens
to be born. aaah... not on a foreign planet, but here!

6. They voted for Labour, not Blair.
That much is clear, at least.

7. The lesser of two evils
Whilst Blair is a bastard, I'd vote for him ahead of anyone from the Tory party (the main opposition party) any day of the week.

If, in 2008, you had a choice between voting for Hillary Clinton or Dick Cheney would you vote for Dick on the basis that you don't like Hillary?
