Minnesota puts voter registration form in tax instructions |
|
This sounds like a great idea! The whole application for voter registration is in the booklet that comes with the tax forms, with instructions to send it to your local official or the state in St. Paul.
Do any other states do this?

1. Minnesotans take their politics and their voting seriously, the only ..... |
|
....thing that bothers me is some people want to demand a picture ID in order to vote. Right now some form of ID and a piece of mail, OR even a declaration from someone the person knows can register a person to vote. I, for one, think it should stay as is too.:patriot:

2. We have picture ID proposals here in Wisconsin too |
|
It seems to be just another scheme from the right-wing think tanks to diminish Democratic strength. Fortunately, our governor has vetoed it so far.

saying that only Democrats do not have some form of picture ID? I think it is a good idea to require some form of ID. My sister in Mi. does not drive because of a health issue she has a state ID. If you cannot afford one then there should be a way for the state to pick up the cost.

4. Oh, but neocons aren't about to help with something like ID's and......... |
|
....anyway why should Americans have to prove who they are for something so basic and so required to our way of life like voting?? No, I like the way Minnesota does their voting procedures now.:patriot:
Last but not least, let's concentrate on counting each and every vote before we go requiring more from voting than we already do.:patriot:

5. It's a matter of probability |
|
Minorities, the elderly, the homeless, are all less likely to be able to go through the process of getting a photo ID--getting to the DMV, getting copies of birth certificates, etc. It's just another barrier, even if it is made free so the money isn't a factor.
