Poll question: Alternatives to Pelosi as Speaker |
|
Edited on Fri Apr-07-06 07:27 PM by Perky
Time to play a Friday night Parlor Game of "What if"
What if we took over the House.
Obviously Nancy Pelosi is in line for the speakership but my guess is that it is no sure thing given the Minority Leader role was contested.
So here is the deal. It is a little known fact that the Speaker does not need to be a member of the House. There was for example some brief talk about Bob Michel coming back to be speaker after Newt got the Boot. That being said the door is open to any number of people out of the House and some in the House.
Here is a list. Let the fun begin

But Gore would be a good choice, he could be made Speaker then after Bush and Cheney are impeached and thrown out he'll be President.

5. I think Pelosi should be speaker, but Hoyer should not be promoted... |
|
...to majority leader. I'm guessing Rahm Emanuel would be majority leader if we take back the House. He wouldn't be the best choice but I could deal with him. Steny Hoyer is a failure and he ought to be booted from the leadership.

7. Voted for Pelosi out of loyalty |
|
Couple issues she has let a lot of us down. My real choice for trusted leadership would be Waxman.

You are correct on Barbara Lee, and I'll second you on any of those choices. Steny Hoyer has gone to the dark side. Do some research and you'll find he dines with the Diebold execs and is pushing to repeal the 22nd Amendment (George Bush for life anyone?). He's been pushing the machines on Maryland for quite a while.

12. reason for some loyalty to Pelosi. |
|
We too would like to see a woman speaker. For all that , after Bush would love to see a woman president. But since Pelosi does have some pretty flawed votes; My first choice would Cynthia McKinney.
