4. how well I KNOW! and Junior highs are the WORST! I work at one
I very often work the chimp into conversations with...have been since 2000, and the change is dramatic

there used to be a fair number of supporters, usually parroting their parents' views (same with the supporters, of course)

but now, the kids ALL HATE him...and they use that word a lot! they make vicious fun of him, too, so I know this goes beyond parental influenc

my favorite was a few years ago:

some girls were making fun of a kid who has trouble speaking, and were mimicing his speech patterns. I went over to them, very angry, and told them, "I've WARNED you not to make fun of ...... you're in big trouble now!"

they said, "We weren't making fun of ..... we were trying to talk like Bush!"

I tried not to laugh, but that was way too much. after that, I asked them every so often how their Bush impression was going

3. not sure you can compare these two stories
She knew those guys were cops...he didn't.

Doesn't mean either set of cops was right.. the situations are different though.

5. McKinney's incident should be a non-story
It is nothing worth talking about, but it has been made bigger than it is.

7. amen...but by WHOM?
this is just part of the program of lie/project/deflect on the part of the fascists and their media cohorts

it's been working quite well for them since the Carter administration

6. that didn't take long
I'm well aware that the situations aren't perfectly analogous

point is, we don't know what really happened with McKinney, and you conveniently omitted the FACT that they were on special notice to recognize HER.

“I have served as a Member of Congress for more than 11 years. Throughout my tenure in Congress, I seem to evoke memory loss, especially from certain police officers who claim not to be able to recognize my face while I go to work everyday, representing the people of Georgia's 4th Congressional District . . .

“Why my face is continually unrecognizable can only be answered by these offending police officers. Capitol Hill Police are given face recognition instructions as a part of their official training. Capitol Hill Police are required to recognize, greet, and distinguish Members of Congress as a part of their official role and responsibilities. In fact, according to the US Capitol Police, their mission is to protect and support the Congress in meeting its constitutional responsibilities. The US Capitol Police mission statement makes no distinction about selective application of its mission depending upon whether a Member of Congress is black, woman, or has a new hairstyle.''

part of the face recognition training is having her PICTURE posted, for them to familiarize themselves

you can buy into the conventional wisdom all you want. there's more to this than meets the eye. I agree that it's a shame it got to this point, but the right wing smear machine is in full swing on this, and she had to defend herself. you do remember a guy named Kerry, and that Swiftboat thing?

8. Please show me where I gave my opinion on the McKinney issue?

???

You have NO idea where I stand on it, so the fact you reply to me with this lecture is quite comical.

By your own admission you admit the situations aren't perfectly analogous.. That was my point.
