For the relatively new Du'ers here is
a file you should read. A group of us did some research about why Plame might have been outed and this is what we came up with:

was looking at Paulson (the post linked, not the OP). Had no idea Pallas was gone, if I recall the poster participated in some very interesting digging for information threads.

6. they are shareable between many different systems, word processing
the reader is avaiable for free online, most word processing and OS's can read them, making it easy to share written info. I think.

33. Yep. Also good about getting files to PRINT out looking the same on ...
different OS's, printers, etc.

PDF indicates PostScript Descriptor Format (or File), IIRC, which means that any printer using Adobe's PostScript language (that means most printers, nowadays) can print out the file and have the fonts and formatting come out correctly, even when fancy page layout, fonts, graphics, etc. are involved. The appearance of the file when read onscreen and printed out should be identical (WYSIWYG), which is essential for those creating final release-quality documentation for commercial products. That was the original motivation for porting documents to PDF files, I believe, but it turned out to feel a void in cross-platform communication as well.

10. You CAN copy them.
Edited on Fri Apr-07-06 10:09 PM by in_cog_ni_to
Go to the tool bar, next to the "hand" click on "select" then drag the highlight tool to highlight what you want to copy. Go to the upper left corner of the page and you will see a "T", put your cursor on it and it says, "copy to clipboard" click on it and then go to whatever program you have and paste it...

SEE? :) Hope this helps.

1st Edition
A. Introduction
This paper is intended as a supplement to The Waterman Paper and an exploration into Goal #3: Why Cheney
Exposed Plame. It involves researching possible connections between businesses connected to Vice President
Dick Cheney that may be associated with the sale of WMD components to countries in the Middle East and Asia.
In addition to reviewing known information regarding the “leaking” of CIA operative Valerie Plame’s identity and
the nature of her work, there will be an overview of A.Q. Khan’s network of nuclear proliferation, a listing of
compromising positions involving financial ties in Cheney’s past and finally an exploration into possible links
connecting Cheney to nuclear proliferation markets for profit.
All evidence shall be cited in a source guide available upon request.

22. Here you go
Go up to the toolbar and click on the T - 3d from left on bottom. Then use your cursor to highlight the text you want to copy. Go to edit>copy and after you copy the selected text, paste it where you want it.

30. What OS are you using?
I gave you the method for my work computer using OS 9.1 and Acrobat 5.0.
If you're using OS 10, then I think you just highlite the text, go to edit and copy. Then paste your text. I don't have my OS 10 Mac running at this time, but I could check it later.

Let me know what you see when you have the PDF file open on your desktop, and then I might could help.

32. If you only have the Acrobat Reader, you may not be able to do this.
Many of the tools will be grayed out. You can still 'Select All' (command-A) and copy, then paste into a word processor or text editor. I just tried this in Acrobat 4.0 under System 8.6, so it's been working for a long time.

I'm not able to read it in its entirety right now. I tried to bookmark the DU page on the Judas article, and found that I could not. Any idea how to bookmark this thread? Also, another question that I have (have never understood it, and have never asked until now): What is a Permalink? Can I use this instead of a bookmark?

:kick: & R & Thanks!
