GREAT Bill Maher tonight! |
|
Ben Affleck, Joe Biden, (can't remember the conservative guy's name)rounded out the panel with some great thoughts. Say what you will about Biden, but he had some awesome ideas on how to deal with Iraq and what the hell is going on.
If you missed it catch it again later--it was worth it tonight

Usenet has been around since before the world wide web.
It's used like a forum similar to DU, but it uses no webpage. You have to have a newsreader client to access a usenet server.
If you google usenet or newsgroups you can find tons of info on how to get started.
The binary newsgroups are my favorites. :D

|
I think there is an "on demand" feature. I am just complaining because I got no warning from Time Warner that this would happen. My apartment complex pays for the basic cable so all I was paying for was the movie channels and Road Runner. I will probably only keep the digital box until the Sopranos is over.

back in mid-February. Biden definitely moved up on my list of candidates after this show. Not necessarily my first choice, but definitely an acceptable one should he get the nomination.

I'll be very disappointed if he doesn't run. I trust him to the point where I actually believe him when he says he's not sure whether he'll run. I yearn, dream of a President who I can be trust and be proud of.

14. hasn't biden shown his character worth? |
|
By selling out everything the dood must value (his country, his state, his political party, his good name, his family, the future, his very soul) all for the tinsel of temporary fame and money, hasn't biden ruined any reason for him to take up space on tv? Michael Moore isn't on tv..... As ancient greeks use to say, character is fate (and joe biden maybe no worse then the rest, but the entire mover/shaker class has shown a total lack of honesty and courage etc)

9. Biden's the foreign policy Dem candidate |
|
Edited on Fri Apr-07-06 11:30 PM by Sugarcoated
I think he's a good guy and he's very smart, but he's still several names down my list. I think he goes a little over the top, he has that Kerry way of making things a little too complicated. He needs to hone it down and simplify his stuff for the masses. I'm not saying he doesn't have good ideas, I'm just sayin as far as being electable.
Edit to add: I forgot about Clark - he's head and shoulders above Biden on foreign policy - but Biden is not too shabby.

13. I watched it for the first time tonight... |
|
I can't believe I haven't seen this before...(I really do need to lift my t.v. watching moratorium to include more than just the Daily Show & Letterman...)
Loved the bit about immigration: Maher made good points about what's really keeping wages down...It's not immigrants getting jobs that Americans want; it's Congress who hasn't raised the minimum wage since 1997. He said it's a damn shame that the minimum wage is the same as a cup of coffee at Starbucks. "If you raised the minimum wage, your wife would be having sex with a Jewish gardner..."
And now I guess I have to get Kevin Phillips's book; he was brilliant. The discussion about how the US is on a destructive path, like other civilizations just before they collapsed was interesting. Phillips: "But George W. doesn't understand that, even though he majored in history from Yale. He doesn't know any more about history than he does about making fried calamari..."
And, of course, the "New Rules" bit was pretty funny, especially "You can't go out to play until you finish your war..." and "Bush has a lot of balls with no real plan to get out..."

25. Biden says Bush is going to bring troops home??? |
|
He thinks having 100,000 in Iraq at the end of the year is a good start? He may have a good point about civil war spilling over into other countries, but he's a flat out liar when he says Kerry, or any other Dem, hasn't addressed it too. In any event, we should be pushing Bush to bring home the troops we sent over there for the election, and not considering those troops any signal of progress in withdrawal. Biden lost me the second he said the Bushies wanted out of Iraq, he STILL doesn't get their agenda if he says that. Or he's blowng smoke or flat out lying, never know with Biden.
Good show, overall, but Biden is just like Chuck Hagel, lots of blustering talk, and then folds when you need him.

The show wad good, but what I got out of Biden was "stay the course". You know I would of expected him dissing Kerry's plan because of his running in '08, but to go on and on and say that Kerry doesn't have a plan to get out is totally false.

I think he was crazy to become so overexposed. It's gotten really irriating to see him all over the airwaves every week. Does he spend any time being a senator? Oh yeah, I forgot, he does make sure that he protects the credit card companies and the other corporations in Delaware.
