The smell of irony in the morning...
I'm reading through this thread and it occurs to me that both sides of this issue equate fatherhood with financial responsibility! That's it, relationship not required, just keep those checks coming.
How progressive. :eyes:
Then I come across another flame war about the anti-feminist author that gets dumped after 40 years of marriage and discovers that she was wrong for all those years and is writing another book, this time for the other side. Again, a large population springs to her defense, even though she actively worked to deny their rights for 25 years!

1. Thats all fatherhood is in a consumer society
Just keep those checks coming.

If hormones were not involved, each sex could
package their eggs/sperm and sell them to each
other for millions of dollars... then we'd all
be rich. :-)

3. LOL! that's a good idea.
I just love how we cry about living in a police state, except when we want to impose our will on others "for their own good".
Wanna buy some sperm? Hardly used and reasonably fresh.

4. actually, eggs are only a couple thousand bucks
Edited on Mon Jan-09-06 11:18 AM by unblock
i shelled out a couple thou for half of the eggs harvested from one stimulated cycle. we wound up with 9 eggs, from which we got 7 frozen embryos.

but we haven't been able to do the transfer because mrs. unblock got pregnant with her own egg(!!) in the meanwhile!

then again, our donor was just an anonymous woman who fit our selection criteria.
i suppose some people might pay considerably more for eggs/sperm of famous people.

(on edit: to clarify, the couple thou was the payment to the donor; the medical bills involved make the total cost a lot more)

5. Please get your facts straight...
I cannot find any reference to Terry Hekker working to deny other women rights. She was all wrapped up un defending her OWN choices.

What is it about "best interests of the CHILD" that eludes so many?
