Discovered: The Halfway House for ex-freepers
Edited on Sat Apr-08-06 01:23 AM by fiziwig
I stumbled onto a forum for ex-freepers, most of whom got banned for speaking out against the shrub. They're still conservatives, mind you, but you can see in their posts that maybe their light bulbs are starting to get a little brighter. Anyway, it's interesting to read all their comments about why they each got banned, and why they're glad to be out of what one poster called "bushbot central". http://www.alipac.us/forum-5.html

Posted: Fri Mar 31, 2006 11:47 pm Post subject: Travis McGee banned at Free Republic today

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Travis McGee was banned today for arguing with Tony Snow on FR over Snow's membership with the Council on Foreign Relations and it's no borders policies.

Shame. Travis is one of the better FReepers.

JR seems bent on purging again like last year.

Posted: Fri Mar 31, 2006 11:52 pm Post subject:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yep, they dont like it when people disagree.

Posted: Fri Mar 31, 2006 11:56 pm Post subject:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think Travis had been with Free Republic for many many years. I was once told that JR respected Travis.

I guess Travis has been sold down the river as JR fights to please his true Globalist sponsors.

So JR is siding with the CFR? Is that what he is doing now in the open?

I didn't know it would be possible for FR to go further downhill, but it seems to be falling apart like the Bush Administration. This is good news!

Edited on Sat Apr-08-06 02:23 AM by Catrina
their former fellow freepers are. Freepers are accused of stalking ex-freepers:

You have my sympathies. I was plagued by that one for years. She and Harrowup are a team. He's slandered me and others all over the web. Quiting the place wasn't enough they want to descredit us everywhere. It's backfiring. Try not to take it personally because it's not. Remember they hate 90% of this country. They're the minority. Just because they have free reighn over "there" isn't anything to brag about.

And this is hillarious. Jimrob put this up over there. Freerepublic isn't so free and the ex-freepers are amazed that the newbies are being treated this way. They're asking is JR the new Jim Baker. Apparently he's having a hard time raising money after throwing out so many of his donating members.

OK Boys and Girls! You've now become Freepers. You're feeling a part of the family, which you ARE! But as with everything in life....nothing is free.

So! Do you see that bar at the top of each and every thread? That's a gentle kick in the rear to donate to FR to keep the lights on.

There's ALSO a bunch of you who've been here for years and haven't donated. Do you know that there's over 200,000 Freepers now? Do you know that you can become a monthly donor and PAINLESSLY donate? Do you know that $5.00 a month by a large number of us will STOP these stupid Freepathons?

You NEVER worry about a thing. It's automatically withdrawn from your credit card, checking account..however you want it set up.

So? Get off your duffs...don't be a FReeloader anymore. It'll make you fell AWFUL good about yourself.

Ex-freeper comment below:

Geez how arrogant is that? It wouldn't matter if I was a first time poster or a long time member, if I saw this in there begathon thread I would tell them to pack it in their Twisted Evil . These so called conservatives are sounding like a bunch of leftwing radicals to me.

8. Here's an interesting point of view...
Edited on Sat Apr-08-06 02:31 AM by 8_year_nightmare
A war has been boiling at FR for some time between the conservatives and the neo-con's. I believe the immigration issue was the last straw for the conservatives and the Shiavo case was the last straw for the neo-con's. Sadly, in most cases, conservatives and intellectual debate was always demonized and they either shut up, left or was banned which left JimRob with a heavy neo-con presence and membership. Like Bush, JimRob has been neo-conned.

As a conservative I got so sick of the kill, bomb, wipe out mentality of the neo-con's that it became unbearable. It was so disgusting the glee they took in the taking of others lives. JimRob should't be surprised the neo-con warmonger/death cult is not contributing when he stated he supported Shiavo.

13. Looks like Robinson has Re-Founded it as FascistRepublic
Edited on Sat Apr-08-06 03:28 AM by Senator
A post from one glutton for punishment:

Anyway, Jim Robinson showed up in the impeachment thread to assert, in one of the mouth-breathing one-liners for which he has become famous, that no advocacy of the impeachment of President Bush would be tolerated, period.

..

I'll be back at FR. Because I have a really hard time watching that online freak show pass itself off as a bastion of conservatism, and because I just enjoy screwing around with these ideologically-bankrupt jerks.

This move was probably a direct order.

Rove fears the impeachment clouds looming. Just the notion of it makes all other crimes "fair game," including both stolen elections.

"You took the words right out of my mouth. There is something very pathologically inconsistant about Jim Robinson, his android lackies, the same patholigical contradictions Neal Boortz and Howard Stern make. These people are dangerous for Americas spirit, its soul. Their behavior is similar to histories fallen dictators or cult leaders, narcissis personality disorder coupled with ego mania. They keep contradicting themselves and confusing people, trying to break readers and listeners down and rebuild those people into their mindless robots. There is chicken soup for the soul and then with every new generation there will always be toxic waste for malleable lost souls."

27. They started shutting down debate about the same time people started
reminding Rimjob that he had called Bush a cokehead during the primaries and only supported him after the nomination.

"To: Freedom Wins

So, it doesn't matter if he snorted coke as a youth? It was a long time ago, a youthful in-discretion? Kinda like people who frequented sneakeasies during prohibition? Kind of a cute story, eh? Well, how about all the people whose lives have been destroyed by being arrested for the felony of drug possession? What about the millions of people who are rotting away in your filthy drug infested prisons at this very moment?

Well, by God, if you people insist on electing another cokehead as President, you damned well better throw open all the prison cell doors and free every man, woman, and child you're holding on drug charges. And if you're gonna elect another drug felon as President, you'd better rescind each and every one of your unconstitutional drug laws now on the books, including all of your unconstitutional search and seizure laws, and your asset forfeiture laws, and your laws that enable your unconstitutional snooping into our bank accounts and cash transactions. Well, I don't know whether to laugh or cry. You people are sick! Conservatives my ass. You people are nothing but a bunch of non-thinking hypocrits! You're a shame and a disgrace to the Republic!

And, I, for one, am tired of taking orders from cokeheads and felons! Elect another one and I'll tell you what. I'll be ready for war! It'll be time to take up arms and run the filthy lying bastards out!

41. remember this?
This was posted at DU and received many positive comments. Jane Smiley, who wrote this at her Huffington Post blog, observed the downward spiral when control goes amok. As we see here, it has turned out to be true; it is what we are seeing as Free Republic disintegrates:

Power is the most ephemeral possession of them all because retaining power means exerting ever more control. Control, of course, operates according to the law of diminishing returns. When you threaten and then torture that first guy, it’s shocking and intimidating, not only to the guy himself but to everyone who hears about it. To maintain that level of intimidation, however, requires ever more threats and ever more torture, and pretty soon you have threatened and tortured, and even killed, hundreds (what’s the count on Iraqis who have died in American custody--121?) or thousands of people, and you are actually losing power because the very thing you thought you could toss out the window in your quest for power, namely morality, comes back to haunt you in the form of disgust (the disgust that others feel toward you) and common decency (that quality that others have retained and you have lost).

24. I know one of those ex-Freepers.
He uses the same screen name on another website where I also post. Styles himself a libertarian (sometimes, anyway). The last little run-in I had with him was on the subject of the stolen 2004 election, where he told me the burden of proof was on me to prove the election was stolen. I had said something to the effect that there is currently no basis for confidence in the election process, because electronic voting is not verifiable.

But the joke's on HIM and on the whole bunch of them! I love the way they talk about how they're going to vote this one out and that one out. Are they really that naive? Don't they realize Diebold et al. can and WILL rig a Republican primary every bit as easily as they rigged the 2004 election? If THEY don't wake up and start fighting for transparent elections, the neocons and the cheap labor/corporate crowd they hate so much will be in power forever...and it will be their own damn stupid fault as much as anyone's.

29. The enemy of my enemy is not necessarily my friend.
Rather than ALIPAC's being honestly disaffected patriots who have seen the light, I suspect that this is just a byproduct of the disintegration of current Republican memes. You can still see the pinheadedness in the banner across the top of the page. "Americans for Legal Immigration" is a disingenuous name for a group more properly identified as opposing illegal immigration--and for this to be an organizing principle in today's America, with all of the real problems that workers face, we must suspect that the group simply opposes immigration--or furriners of the wrong color/accent--on principle.

The GOP has created the climate, though, by stirring up xenophobia at every opportunity. When this beast they've carefully fed suddenly turns on Big Money's favorite pool of cheap labor, though, the talking heads have to backtrack, catering to their real constituency, and all their ugly slogans face new examination. Corporate power has happily harnessed American racism for centuries, but as the working class makes sacrifice after sacrifice, the real agenda becomes more painfully obvious. This schism and the others to come were inevitable.

Let it eat them.

38. Really interesting! I read a bunch and they're off Freeperville
The best post was called "Free Republic On Life Support."

These guys all agreed that no dissent is tolerated by their mods, especially the idiot who owns it.

They all said Shaivo was the beginning of the end, and the mexican border was the final nail in the coffin. They've all been banned for trying to discuss the border.

We haven't even tried to argue the plans that have been considered by the house and senate because the arguments are all mute: We don't have the $$ to carry out any plan , even if we could figure out something that would be good for us or the illegals.

Personally, I don't have a clue what we should do, and for me, that's a first.

But if Freeperville is a barometer of the red states, we're all gonna be blue by next week.
