Republicans call for a top Dem to resign!
Washington -- Republican leaders called on Rep. Alan Mollohan, D-W.Va., on Friday to step down from his ranking post on the House ethics committee because of allegations that he provided legislative earmarks benefiting companies and individuals who helped make him a millionaire.

Mollohan called the charges "spurious" and said both the accusations and the calls for him to resign are politically motivated.

The Wall Street Journal reported Friday that federal prosecutors have opened an investigation of Mollohan's personal financial disclosures. The article also raised questions about earmarks -- or special provisions included in federal spending bills -- he has steered to nonprofits in West Virginia in the past five years.

Mollohan, a member of both the ethics and appropriations committees, has not been accused of any wrongdoing. He acknowledged in an interview making real estate investments with the head of a nonprofit company that received federal money from earmarks Mollohan backed. But he contended he is fully "at risk" in the investments and received no special favors in either financing or locating the investments.

2. I have to admit, this does look fishy.
I can't find very many people who have some kind of safe "blind trust" who have seen their assets increase almost 12 fold. You have to look long and hard for people who have done that.

I don't like the looks of this one bit. We should call on him to go.

3. READ BELOW FOR THE TRUTH--HE HAS NOT EVEN BE ACCUSED OF ANYTHING!!!

<snip>

Republican leaders in the House of Representatives immediately called for action against Mollohan. House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., called on House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-San Francisco, to press Mollohan to step down.

"Speaker Hastert and his Republican cohorts are responsible for the most corrupt Congress in history, and the American people are paying the price at the gas pump, at the pharmacy and with record high deficits," Pelosi countered. "The speaker should join me in directing the ethics committee to get to work, and not cast aspersions on the independent and distinguished ranking member."

</snip>

When you read this, you see that all they are doing is try to take the heat off their Party...He is not accused of any wrong-doing and they are ready to hang him... But one of their own can lead this nation into an unjust war, leak classified info, spy on Americans and threaten to nuke Iran.. I'd say they had more important things to deal with.....

7. I don't believe something just because someone says it.
He must be the world's greatest investor to increase his wealth 12x in those particular four years.

and it was CLEAR that the man hasn't been accused of any wrongdoing! I suggest the repukes LOOK IN THE MIRROR. The entire repuke party IS GUILTY of wrongdoing. They're just trying to take the attention away from themselves. Rat Bastards.

8. NLPC
Mollohan was investigated by conservative think tank, National Legal and Policy Center. The NLPC president and co-founder, Peter Flaherty, is also former chairman of Citizens for Reagan. One source I've found names Flaherty as a member of CNP.

9. He's probably not the last they'll accuse
The GOP will probably accuse lots of Democrats of illegal activity to take the heat off themselves.

11. Extra, extra! Read all about it! Pot Calls Kettle Black!!
FUCK the republicans. They MUST GO. NOW.

I will never, ever, cast a vote for a republican again. Not after what I've seen over the last 6 years. NEVER AGAIN.

This post is from a former voter-for-republicans, and a former FREEPER.

Get the picture. I'm not concentrating on the democrats' "sins" till I see those republican bastards OUT of power, banished from Washington in disgrace, and, if possible, jailed.

12. Lots Of Questions Here...
I saw Washington Journal hopped all over this story yesterday and I'll bet hate radio is on it as well.

I was hoping Talking Points Memo or Muckraker would shed a little more light on what's going on here, but they seem to be still trying to figure it out themselves.

Actually this could be a real good thing if Democrats play it smart. Seems like Gym Teech Denny wants to investigate. Let's go! And while we're at it, there's a certain Mr. Ney and Doolittle and Ryun and a growing list of Repugnicans who have a few questions to answer.

The GOOPies hope they've got a fish here...let's make 'em fall face first into the drink! Sure, Denny let's crank up that House Ethics committee...at your peril.

14. Ranking member of the ethics committee is the key
Reoving a crook from the house requires control of this committee. The republicans are worried.
