Going to a reception today for my Congresswoman hosted by Robert Redford!
I am pretty excited! I've been invited to a small fundraiser for my Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey near my house that is being hosted by Robert Redford.

I was wondering if there are any questions you want asked of both her and Redford....I ofcourse have many of my own, but I love the minds of my fellow DUers, so I thought I'd throw the question out to you if you think there are any "messages" that need to be conveyed....

1. One of the best Democratic candidates there never was.
RR is up there with Gore Vidal and Oprah Winfrey. But there's still hope for Oprah - wouldn't an Oprah-Condi election be something? It would certainly confound the racists and misogynists!

5. Agreed...about RR and about Oprah...
In fact, just last night, it came up at dinner who would be the "ultimate" candidate....everyone agreed....Oprah...

7. Oprah = Democratic landslide.
Apparently she has been courted for more than a decade. But I can understand her reasons for not being keen.

2. for her... ask how the 'public sentiment' she senses in the district
is similar and how it differs from the conventional wisdom in DC (dc hill and political strategists circles.) It would be interesting to hear her take on this.

For Robert Redford... aw just tell him a friend in Indiana thinks he is still the cats meow. :D Seriously, it would be interesting for his take on shifts in attitude in the industry (main stream and indie) from pre 911, post 911, early Iraq War and now.

My best, friend - have a great time!

6. I'll admit...Love Lynn, but am going to go see ole Robert!
:9

Even though he's not a youngin' anymore, he still has "it"....but what makes him particularly attractive is also his environmental and political stance. Reportedly, Peter Coyote, Sean Penn and Santana (all locals around my hood) are going to be there too...

I also plan to ask Lynn Woolsey about the Seymour Hersh article in the New Yorker about the Bushies plans for nuking Iran...that and impeaching the mofo for everything else....

And yes, I will have a good time.... :hi:

12. How cool
yes, I would be asking about the IRAN situation and what we can do.

And I would tell Robert that he can eat crackers in my bed any old time, but also that I'm proud of him! He had a great article in Mother Earth News recently.

Lucky Pachamama! :P

3. How much money she perceives it would take
To rebuild NOLA and her and RR's vision of NOLA.

4. Good Question!
I will ask her that and how she thinks it can happen....

Not that I hold her solely accountable for the rebuilding of NOLA, but I'd love to here both of their takes on that issue....

9. Ask them why they're not screaming bloody murder about the voting
machines. Tell them to inform themselves by reading Mark Crispin Miller and Steve Freeman and Bev Harris and all the other folks who are screaming about the stealing of our democracy.

It's the biggest con game and scam in American history and why aren't they aware of it?

10. Another excellent question!
Consider it done! :hi:

I totally agree with you...I was in Ohio on election day '04 and I know that based on what I saw, this election was dirty....

PS: I've shared that with Lynn before...and I know she agrees, but I too want to know why she and others aren't screaming about it...then again, my guess is they are afraid of being "Mckinnyed"...

13. Mention Sy Hersch's latest about Iran....
http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20060408/wl_mideast_afp/usirannuclearmilitary

snip:

One former defense official said the military planning was premised on a belief that "a sustained bombing campaign in Iran will humiliate the religious leadership and lead the public to rise up and overthrow the government," The New Yorker pointed out.

Is this what happened here on 9/11 or did the country unite behind the unelected, court appointed pResident?

These PNACers are nuts
