Bush later states, "I was sitting outside the classroom and I saw an
airplane hit the tower. The TV was on.” “When we walked into the classroom, I had seen this plane fly into the first building.” There was no live coverage of the first crash on TV"

Why hasn't this been questioned by the media? Why haven't the Democrats been screaming this from the rooftops?

Why don't the Democrats do something like make a list of Bush's obvious blunders, mistakes ... and call the some name like "Bush's most recent 10 ten screwups" and start reciting them every chance they get. Just keep repeating and repeating them drowning out protests, fake indignation ...

Outrageous - yes, but Bush's actions have had tragic consequences. Besides, Bush's "outrageous" policies have survived so far. Bush's defenders have been beyond outrageous with good results for themselves.

1. The media are suckasses who don't do their jobs
Has been that way for awhile. Even Bob Woodward is a friggin' egomaniacal jerk, these days.

2. Because the media is trained like circus animals
...to jump up and yell "CONSPIRACY WHACKO! MICHAEL MOORE! MOVEON.ORG!" every time anyone mentions the obvious. And our democratic leaders allow them to.

We need Dean to do another Wolfie Bitch Slap like he did over the Abramoff thing.

6. Because if you ask that question, you start thinking about possible
answers.

And there are only two possible answers to why he made that shit up about the TV: either he's innocent and really, really stupid, to the point of being out of touch with reality and hallucinating, or he lied deliberately to hide something.

Neither answer goes along with the Official Version.

30. I know what the reason is, and it's entirely plausible.
Okay, I don't know for a provable fact, but it's something that can be surmised, considering this administration and its modus operandi.

The reason bush said he saw the first plane hitting the tower is because he did see it on a video simulation prior to September 11, 2001. He admitted to seeing the first plane hitting the tower because, in a moment of stupidity, he forgot that he had not actually witnessed it on television, but rather on a monitor in a simulated video of the upcoming attack.

This theory of mine dovetails with either MIHOP or LIHOP, if someone had presented him with a possible video simulation scenario of Osama's threat.

I contend that bush was absolutely aware of the danger of Osama flying planes into the towers, that he had watched video simulations of the potential damage such an attack would cause.

What an @ss.

This would make a good commercial. That quote (esp. if Junior is on video saying that) shown alongside the video of what actually happened in that Florida classroom on 9/11/01. If our 'leader' can't remember the facts of the most significant event of his pResidency, then he's a complete incompetent.

15. How did he see the first plane? He clearly says 'the first plane'
crashed before he went into the classroom. He says 'the second plane' very clearly in connection to Andrew Card's whisper to him.

Can't understand why this has never been explored on Fox News or anywhere else except in blogs.. How did he see the first plane? Who was looking over his shoulder to see the first plane crash too? Someone on his staff knows all about what happened that day...

(Between 8:46-8:55 a.m.): Bush's Motorcade Quickly Hears of Flight 11 Crash, but Bush Reportedly Still Unaware

When Flight 11 hits the WTC at 8:46 a.m., President Bush's motorcade is crossing the John Ringling Causeway on the way to Booker Elementary from the Colony Beach and Tennis Resort on Longboat Key. Sarasota Magazine claims that Bush is on Highway 301, just north of Main Street when he is told that a plane has crashed in New York City. Around the same time, Press Secretary Ari Fleischer, who riding in another car in the motorcade, is talking on his cell phone, when he blurts out: “Oh, my God, I don't believe it. A plane just hit the World Trade Center.” (The person with whom Fleischer is speaking remains unknown.) Fleischer is told he will be needed on arrival to discuss reports of the crash. This call takes place “just minutes” after the first news reports. Congressman Dan Miller also says he is told about the crash just before meeting Bush at Booker elementary school at 8:55 a.m. Some reporters waiting for him to arrive also learn of the crash just minutes after it happens. It would make sense that Bush is told about the crash immediately, at the same time that others hear about it. Yet the official story remains that Bush is not told about the crash until he arrives at the school. Author James Bamford comments, “Despite having a secure STU-III phone next to in the presidential limousine and an entire national security staff at the White House, it appears that the president of the United States knew less than tens of millions of other people in every part of the country who were watching the attack as it unfolded.”

I hadn't heard this before. I tend to think Bush is just an idiot who couldn't even remember when or where he heard it; which is actually scarier than thinking he could plan a huge conspiracy. His comment about thinking a bad pilot caused the crash is exactly what you'd think Bush would conclude. Clinton would've instantly connected it to Al-Queda, remembered his briefings, realized more attacks could be imminent & sprung into action. Bush thinks, "dumb pilot, I was much better in my 2 months in the Texas Air National Guard" and continues his day in blissful ignorance.

11. And he remembered thinking
what a bad pilot that was. He made a joke of it. He repeated to us what he must have joked with his pals about ... bad pilot, my ass. No one jokes about something like that. And even if you have that fleeting thought for a second at the first tragedy, you don't repeat it hours later when you know, for sure, it wasn't just one bad pilot.

17. Captain Deborah Loewer, director of the White House Situation Room
Captain Deborah Loewer, director of the White House Situation Room, is traveling in President Bush's motorcade toward Booker Elementary School, when she learns of the first WTC crash from her deputy in the Situation Room at the White House. According to some reports, as soon as the motorcade reaches the school, Loewer runs from her car to Bush's car, and informs Bush. Note that Bush maintains that he learns of the crash at a later time.

22. Because they knew what he meant
He'd probably seen a TV with pictures of the North Tower smoking and burning, and conflated it later with the footage of the second plane hitting the South Tower.

It's more proof that *'s memory isn't excatly photographic -- but we knew that already.

The real sign here is how easily he conflates facts in the service of a nifty story, but there are many other clearer and far more eggregious examples to choose from. I don't see why people get all up in arms about this one particualr statement.

On the other hand, one CAN hurl rotten tomatos at the press for fixing his mistakes for him, rather than letting Ari or Scotty do the job.
