As reported on C & L:

http://www.crooksandliars.com/2006/04/08.html#a7849

Republican Dad gets son off in AZ sex case

This is too much.

Poliremix:

"A 19 and 17 year old from Arizona, have been offered a plea deal which requires no jail time and virtually no penalty for crimes they admitted to commiting. What were these crimes? As counselors at a boys camp, the 19 and 17 year old punished 18 of the 11-14 year old boys by making them lay face down on their bed, in front of all the other boys, shoving a broomstick into their anus through their pants. Eighteen 11-14 year olds! And, no penalty despite the parents outrage.

One may ask how this could happen. It is really quite simple. The 19 year old, Ryan Bennett, is none other than the son of Arizona's Senate President, Ken Bennett, a Republican who is part of the effort to ban equal rights for same-sex couples in the state, viewing same-sex relationships as immoral...After his son's admission, Bennett wrote a letter to the D.A. handling the case informing her that his son could not rightfully serve time in jail, because he is prepared to leave the country on a mission - to teach the word of Christ to youth around the world...

Read this letter and tell me how insane this response is to this story. Sheila S. Polk, Yavapai County Attorney, sees no sexual motive in the actions of Bennett and Wheeler and blames the media for the attention it's receiving:

"If you review the police reports, you will find a terrible situation that can be summed up as follows: Eighteen junior high age kids went to a week-long camp in Prescott. The two defendants were their junior counselors and in charge of them. As a form of discipline, the defendants, then 17 and 19, performed a ritual on the campers referred to as “brooming.” Simply and somewhat graphically put, the defendants would use a broom stick or flashlight and push it into the crevice of campers’ buttocks over their clothes. Sometimes the victims were held and sometimes they were not. There is absolutely no evidence that this was done with a sexual motivation...."

What part of sticking a broom where the sun doesn't shine is not sexual in nature? So to her the definition of sexual assault has to do with the fact that the kids were wearing clothes. Doesn't she know the shame these kids would feel afterwards? You can email her your thoughts about the case, (please be civil) at County.Attorney.Email@co.yavapai.az.us You can view the police report there also. (h/t Matt)"

EVERYONE should read the police report to see what a lying whore this County Prosecutor is:

http://www.co.yavapai.az.us/departments/Aty/BennettWheeler.pdf

Wouldn't it be funny is someone took Bennett's sociopathic son (who is going to go do the "Lord's Work") and his sidekick she is letting off, sprayed them both in the faces with air freshener, choked them until they almost passed out, broomed them and ook pictures of it for the entire public to see as the same kind of "punishment" for their actions as they exacted on these campers?

BTW, this "punishment" was because a camper did not confess to clogging up the toilet (I would imagine some poor kid with a sick stomach used too much toilet paper being supervised by these two monsters.)

Every fucking day I read the news now it's like Bizzaro world with what these neo-con "Christians" allow, justify and excuse in completely unacceptable behavior, it makes me sick to MY stomach, and I AM a Christian!

These two punk bully bastards need to be punished seriously, and made examples that this kind of behavior with children will never, ever be tolerated, ESPECIALLY not under the guise of "hazing", a reprehensible practice in itself.

Excuse me now while I go puke some more.

And this Polk bitch...

Smiling in front of the flag as she bastardizes justice... I only hope she loses her job next election. She is a disgrace as well.

1. Unbelieveable. Someone is getting money, I bet
I wonder how many people go to jail every DAY for doing things half as heinous to people? This is justice gone awry, and I do hope the parents of those boys take this to civil court and financially clean the clocks of those kids and their parents.

Why is so much evil tied to religion and belief in an invisible being in the sky?
Those that believe do not follow. Those that follow do not believe.

6. Someone at Crooks and Liars also recommended we email the Church of LDS
"If there's enough pressure put on the Church, maybe he won't be selected for a 'mission' after all; and pop goes his daddy's reason for not prosecuting his son."

12. It's already been done......
this story broke earlier in the week and there was a letter writing campaign to O'Lielly's e-mail addy. Of course, nothing came of it. Now, if there was a (D) behind anyone connected to this story instead of an (R) the righteous O'Lielly would be on top of this with all the religious fervor and moral superiority that he could possibly muster. But there isn't a (D), there's a (R). No harm no foul. A childish prank, a silly hazing ritual that got a little out of hand. Let's move on. :eyes: :puke: :grr:

I was so impressed by your line there I had to repeat it.

From The Gospel of Judas, the Twin of Jesus, also known as the Gospel of St. Thomas

(11) Jesus said, "Many are standing at the door, but it is the solitary one who will enter the bridal chamber."

(12) Jesus concluded, "Blessed are the solitary and elect, for they will find the Kingdom, for they are from it, and to it they will return."

http://www.graveworm.com/occult/texts/judas1.html

I take that to be referring to the loner, the perpetual misfit, the person who has to figure it all out for themselves.

8. I just sent this to the Church of Latter Day Saints:
The Ryans are members of the Church of Latter Day Saints.

Why is the Church of Latter Day Saints allowing this 19 year old, Ryan Bennett, to minister the word of Christ for the church when his behavior indicates a pattern of abuse that should not be tolerated against minors or anyone else he comes into contact with as a "counselor"?

I am not a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints, but I am a Christian and allowing this man who has had his father pull strings to help him avoid punishment so he can act as a representative of the church is akin to pedophile priests being relocated to prey upon other innocent minors.

It really sends out the wrong message that you can use the excuse you are going to "minister for Christ" to get away with criminal behavior.

And it didn't seem to work for Karla Faye Tucker either, but then again I guess she didn't have a father who was in the Arizona State Senate.

7. .............just, pretty much, floored. Nearly speechless.
And I knew they'd get away with it when I read the first story.

Boy, I wish I were a Mormon with a Daddy in the Senate so I could do whatever I wanted. I thought you had to get installed as President to do that, but apparently the right to torture is trickling down, even if the money isn't.

Sadly, there's no Daddy, in a nifty badass car or costume to save us. Lord of the Flies. Just us rabble.

10. This shouldn't come as a shock...
...it is typical behavior for those on the right. The fact that he is the son of someone in the Arizona Senate just makes it public.

The purpose of this, though, wasn't sexual - as in the boys got little hard-ons at broom-raping little kids. No, it's purpose was much more evil than that. It's purpose was to degrade and shame them. It has the same purpose as the torture that took place in Abu Ghraib. Because being gay is seen so "morally wrong" or "nasty" they are doing their best to degrade them in such a way to make them feel "shame".

This is the product of anti-gay feelings across this country. This type of thing is on the rise because anti-gay feelings among conservatives is on the rise, but once gays are accepted as normal and aren't seen as "evil" or "nasty" - then this type of torture(?) will virtually disappear. (Only to have some other form of degrading abuse replace it.)

Kudos to the kids who were assaulted with the brooms for telling their parents. A lot of kids wouldn't out of shame and fear of being labeled "gay".

17. What nonsense, generalising like that makes you sound trollish.
There are some decent republicans, there are some ass-hole democrats, people vary enormously.

But anyone wanting to get away with immoral activities and disguise their perversions, will join the religion of the majority, and make a point of putting other people down, just to make themselves appear above reproach.

they always vote either for their own self interests or are a bunch of repressed sexual perverts. At least the asskole Democrats vote the right way. I would take a raging asshole Democrat over a "decent" republican any day!
