What is the new definition of "conservatism"?
The new conservatism is not the same as the old conservatism of Barry Goldwater and previous conservatives. How would you define the new "conservatives"?

1. People who don't want to conserve anything
but who want to remake the country into a feudal one.

They always think they're going to be the ones in charge. Silly gits.

3. The labels -- liberal, conservative, progressive, have lost all meaning
Edited on Sun Apr-09-06 01:11 PM by pat_k
The labels -- liberal, conservative, progressive, right, left -- have become so loaded they have lost all objective meaning.

We are NOT dealing with a divide between left v. right positions on "issues."

We are dealing with fascists v. anti-fascists; insiders v. outsiders; weakness v. strength.

More. . .

8. I would say the definition is still the same, it is the people who are not
Today's republicans are not conservative in any way that I can see except maybe religious people that hold old values. Bush and other republicans say they are conservative but they are not. I don't know what to call them but conservative they ain't. There needs to be a new word to define them, maybe corporatists or fascists or exploitists will do.
