WASHINGTON (AFP) - Pro-immigrant groups vow giant marches across the country on Monday demanding immigration reform and the legalization of nearly 12 million undocumented migrants living in the United States.

Marches have been organized in 60 US cities, including here in the US capital.
......................................

On Monday "we march in the streets, but we will also march to the voting booth in November," during key mid-term elections, said Medina, adding that not all immigrants were undocumented and that many will vote.

In Los Angeles, Miami and other cities, the Catholic Church has called its members to join in the protests.

I think that we are starting to see a "French" situation here. The immigrants are doing what progressive Americans should do on other issues, the war, social security etc... Maybe it's not too late and the situation with a scandal weakened government is just demanding this... ask for Bush's resignation... and new elections, jump over the legal tidy procedures, even if the process must remain non-violent and legal....

but at least 15 millions in Washington are needed, not 100 000

1. 100,000 expected in San Diego; did anyone go?
I have out of town guests and can't make it, but would really like to hear how many folks turn out.
