The Republicans are searching desperately for an issue...
Because all they need is one issue. And they will ride that horse until it drops. They thought immigration reform was going to be the issue but it blew up in their face. Their old standbys of war and taxes are not looking very well at the moment. The war looks like a disaster and the taxcuts have given us the largest deficits in history - they are so huge that they may collapse our economy. So now, they are looking for another issue. They can maintain their crazy base with gay marriage and abortion but they need more to win. They're shoveling the manure rapidly because they know there's a pony down there somewhere...

1. The pony rode off a long time ago...
All the Republicans are going to find at the bottom of the manure pile is George Bush.

6. I think they're toast. No one believes them, everything they
attempt to touch turns to crap, and their fearless leader is a paper tiger.

8. Their immigration "reform" is going as planned
Edited on Sun Apr-09-06 07:56 PM by NNN0LHI
They never planned on reforming anything. They were just looking for an issue that will get their ignorant knuckledragging base into the voting booths come November. Plenty of media coverage of scary looking brown people will do that for them.

14. Republicans ride circular logic..for every issue
Edited on Sun Apr-09-06 09:56 PM by flaminbats
As someone posted earlier..Republicans don't really worry about big government, morality, or even national security. Neocons are driven by pretty looks, sweet talk, and vengeance. If neocons wanted unobtrusive government, the last thing they would support is starting war. If neocons embraced morality, the last thing they would justify is taking money from those with disabilities and chronic illnesses only for the profits while providing nothing return. If conservatives wanted a stronger defense and lower taxes, the last thing they would support are growing deficits and idealistic nation-building projects.

Republicans always lose arguments when logic is required, this is why circular logic is used for ending every debate. A Republican will never admit corporations should pay a higher rate on profits, nor will they accept that cutting the national debt is required for any federal tax to be lowered. According to Republicans...income taxes do not tax profit, they reduce profit. Regulation isn't law enforcement, yet it justifies outsourcing. Jimmy Carter caused the gas prices go up in the 70's all because of stagflation, but Bush just ain't to blame for the inflation we have now! :puke:

Republicans can pretend all they wish. "Qui non est hodie cras minus aptus erit..He who is less prepared today will be less so tomorrow."
