Did Abramoff wear a wire too???
Roll Call also reports on a more likely source of Jack's downfall - a re-energized Public Integrity Section at the Justice Department. Under the leadership of Noel Hillman, who took over in 2002, the department "has more than doubled the number of federal corruption cases it has brought to the courts in the past four years."

TPM readers who are wishing, hoping, and praying that Abramoff, like Duke, wore a wire, will be cheered by this passage:

Hillman told Roll Call that along with inspectors general and the FBI, federal investigators have adopted a more widespread use of wiretaps, surveillance and other secretive investigative techniques.

'If we've been more aggressive, and I think we have, one of the ways we've done that is to be more aggressive in the ways we investigate the cases: the more effective use of cooperators, the more effective use of undercover techniques, the consensual recordings.'"

1. I've been wondering about this as well.
Let's hope so. That's one way to reduce a 90+ year sentence to 10 years as Abramoff received.

2. When did Jack hand over the 10,000 emails?
Cause if he wore a wire, that would have been about when it started, wouldn't you think? Did people immediately stop taking his calls?

3. I hope so - the bush/cheney downfall can't come soon enough for the
vast number of world citizens who are suffering because of their immense corruption.

4. Apparently, he's been talking to the prosecuation for almost a year
I would guess that part of his deal would be to wear a wire during that time.

I sure hope so.

5. It sure seems like a good possibility given he and his lawyers
were in 'negotiations' for more than a year. I find it positively delicious in that none of the repubs know whether he was or not. That, alone, has got to be good for a lot of soiled underwear in D.C.

6. My guess is...
The republican pucker factor is at zero, hence no soiled undies. :D
