HELP! Anyone Know Of ANY Places That I Can Contact About Help
for methamphetamine addiction. Not for myself and not one of those inpatient places that cost an arm & a leg. I've been to NA & AA and that isn't doing it.

I need something else. I need to talk to someone that deals with this particular problem one on one. I've spent so much money in the past year trying to get help for my son, but now I need a place here in Sarasota County, Fl that can advise me. I'm at my wits end and have been up all night thinking about this.

I'm not sure if this is the best place to post, but I checked online and can't seem to find anything like this.l

Thank you,

4. Thank you so much... I Appreciate It.
I just don't know where to turn without having to give them ALL my money. I've spent far too much already. I don't even want to give the figure because it's almost embarrassing, but will say it is over $50,000.00

I'm am middle class, if that exists, but my IRA has been hit pretty hard!

3. I hope you find something to help you
but please realize that, unless your son WANTS the help, nothing you do will do any good. I'm sorry to say that. It's a hard lesson to learn...one I've been through.

Good luck.

5. I'm Looking For Help For Me... To Get To That Place Where It
doesn't consume me all the time! NA & AA do not get it. Their set-up isn't doing it for me and I only come away with people telling me to pray or call them when I feel down.

I need to take some action or I'm going to check myself into one of those inpatient places and let my insurance pay for it. But here again I have a problem, we care for my mother-in-law and I hate to put this burden on my husband because we are already dealing with TWO major problems. She has Alzheimer's and we've had her for 7 years now and while healthy at the age of 94, he mind is not very much intact. I don't know what this will do to him. He already has so much anger toward our son, and this just might push the possibility of ANY type of relationship in the future to mend.

I know my son is sick and extremely paranoid and will run if confronted by the law and very likely his father too.

6. I know it is difficult,
but have you considered putting your mom in a place that cares for Alzheimer patients.

Even it is just for a while, to give you some breathing room.
You can't help others if you are falling apart. Please remember you are only human, and can not continue down this path without putting yourself at risk of collapse.

7. Respite Care would be a good idea. That would at least give the caretaker
a break, even if only a few hours a day. Caretaker burnout is very real.

8. Oh It Sure Is...
I sometimes wonder, and this is NOT that I don't value life, but my mother-in-law just isn't here anymore! She needs help with almost everything, she can't walk without help, she can't get up without help, she doesn't seem to understand what is going on. I don't mean to be crass, but I guarantee that IF I was in this condition, I hope someone would take me out first.

It's really really sad and I don't see the "quality" in her life, albeit she does have us and we made a promise to her husband that we would never put her somewhere. And yes, we have considered putting her someplace for a short time. But it still isn't any help in dealing with the other problem of my son's addiction.

I do of course know I have NO control over him and that I need to let things happen as they will, but we are now going on two years of this constant worry. And he is now basically "on-the-run" having been caught and not bothering to deal with the consequences of court orders! He's a fugitive from the law and I just wait and wait to get THAT phone call, that he either OD'ed or is in jail. I'd settle for jail now, but even that is NO real answer. We're dealing with Meth here.

10. I Do Know That & I Appreciate The Concern...
I'm on my way out right now to a place I called. I don't know if they just want me to come in, and then tell me how much it costs... or just to tell me to seek counseling or call a psychiatrist/

I just DON'T want to end up taking GOBS of medications to "cover" my feelings. I know about those "meds," took a lot before for my OCD and got off of them myself. Nasty stuff!

Ruining out the door now and thanks to all!

11. Our local Unitarian Church has something they run
That's exactly what you're talking about. That's an idea -- contact yours. I know Sarasota has one. Also, you are ear some universities... some of them sometimes have facilities like this at a low cost to the community.

Just some ideas -- may or may not help. Good luck.

12. I Do Believe The Unitarian Church Here Is Almost The Same
as NA, Al-Anon & AA. I have checked before, but maybe they have broadened their scope. I'll check again. I went to see some places today, but as usual it's pretty much about MONEY!

Why should this cost soooooo much money? Actually, I DO know the answer, it's almost the same as why Nursing Homes cost so much.... We Need Their Services and they know it!

Yes, I do sound pretty bitter, but I've tried talking with local police and they blame it on LIBERAL lawyers who keep letting those they arrest back out on the streets! I live in Cruella's District, hardly a LIBERAL enclave... I have rarely seen a Democrat win an election here!

So where's they LIBERAL judges they are talking about?? It seems all about MONEY again! I even know about "sting" operations here that keep operating and operating. Don't know WHAT it takes to arrest THEM, while even more people are getting hooked on this drug! Makes NO sense to me!!

15. Thanks... I've Called Almost Every Place That Has Been Given
to me here or from those that I called. No help because of my son blew his probation and I was told by just ONE place in Ft. Myers that they could do a 28-day intervention, but if he came they would have to inform the police.

So I guess I'll just have to hope he sees the light and gives himself up. I would gladly take him in myself and let him just throw himself on the mercy of the court. Still, I don't know if that would work. Jails ARE over-crowded, but so many Rehabs are FULL! I was told by 2 places that even IF he could be court ordered that he would probably have to be put on a waiting list!

I'm feeling better today, but the feeling comes and goes. I know many many others are struggling with this and try to keep from worrying, but it's on my mind every single day!
