the notion that the content of your message is irrelevant compared to how effectively you deliver it is a core neocon principle. Let's not be like those monkeys, we can do better.

This prompted by the thread questioning whether we are/should be looking for a white knight - gag me with a spoon, you wanna have a dominant/submissive relationship, do it in bed, not in your political party.

The right-wing is always scoring off the electorate's unresolved emotional issues. they don't even mess with "white knights" anymore, as they now think god is now in the white House. That's one hell of an emotional/spiritual "orgasm".

A couple of months ago there was a satirical thread about how we can foolishly wrap up our personal lives and issues with the job a politician is doing.

The reality is they're hired to do a job for the American people and they are either successful or they are not. No heroism should be required to do a pretty straightforward job. It should not be required that we swoon, either. I think of Henry Waxman as the prime example of a highly decent, workmen-like achiever in the ranks of government.

Edit: Al Gore was another example. Not that long ago many folks bought into the "he's so boring" flavor of baloney.
