CHENEY DID IT!....
CHENEY DID IT!....The New York Times http://www.nytimes.com/2006/04/10/washington/10leak.html?ex=1302321600&en=a822dffc46e8662d&ei=5090&partner=rssuserland&emc=rss reports that George Bush's people have confirmed that he did order the declassification of the NIE that Scooter Libby subsequently disclosed to Judith Miller:

But the official said that Mr. Bush did not designate Vice President Dick Cheney's chief of staff, I. Lewis Libby Jr., or anyone else, to release the information to reporters.

Translation: Don't blame this on us. Cheney and his guys might have been out of control, but Bush had nothing to do with any leaks. All he did was approve the declassification.

The scapegoating is starting to heat up. Can we expect a rebuttal from an anonymous official on Cheney's staff anytime soon?

6. yeah, but the same article says that Bush
Edited on Mon Apr-10-06 08:11 AM by annabanana
"had ordered the declassification of parts of a prewar intelligence report on Iraq in an effort to rebut critics who said the administration had exaggerated the nuclear threat posed by Saddam Hussein."

So the declassification was strictly for political purposes...

edit: emphasis mine

8. There's a cancer
on the presidency. It has reached a point where they cannot not respond in some way. When we consider how far they were willing to go to confront the Wilson "threat," it seems likely that we will see something significant in the upcoming weeks.

7. Check out Rudepundit's take on it...
Bush really is just "a rube and an idiot of Titanic proportions" and Cheney is the man. I don't doubt it for a moment.

9. So Libby is throwing everyone under the bus
Bush just wants to be left alone, but since Rove says Cheney has to go then Bush is saying what's needed.. meanwhile Rove is ready to GUT Libby by handing over anything he can get on Libby and Cheney..

It really doesn't get much better than this does it? Well, except for maybe the entire WHIG lot to be hauled off in chains to the Hague, along with Bolton, Powell, Fleischer, Rice, Hadely, Ledeen, Franklin, sheesh, getting tired of typing, guess that's how they WIN, too many CROOKS to list :)

Takebackthemedia.com http://www.takebackthemedia.com has the WHOLE story on the Plame outing, come visit and watch the Preview for my film there, "Rove's War"

11. Rove
is directing blame towards Cheney. I say that for a number of reasons. First, Fitzgerald already has Libby. He doesn't need Rove's help there; in fact, his recent filing makes clear he is not planning to call Karl to testify. More, a prosecutor doesn't "trade down." Rove can't look for a deal where he provides information about the role of the jr. assistant press secretary for lying about a phone call. Rove has to trade up.

12. Agreed,
I just think that Rove is going for a "two fer", I think I understand the little bastard's tactics, gotten to know him doing the research, he never ends up with only ONE result, everything he does brings in the goods on many levels..

Since Libby is obviously not going to assist Bush, then Rove has an obligation to "fuck him like he's never been fucke before.." a statement he once made that his wife had cross stitched and hangs over their bed I believe :)

Doesn't hurt to make sure that Libby is completely neutralized in the process of taking Cheney out, but in a way he also has to tread somewhat lightly as Libby DOES have some connections with Rove that could prove to be too close for comfort, for instance they collaborated on writing Tenet's evacuation speech when Tenet left, remember?

So they did work together on lot of stuff, but now that the gloves are off Libby is as in the word of Tony Suprano speaking of his own mother, "dead to me.."

But for sure Rove still has to save HIS own ass, and that will take skillful handling by Fitz, the man for the job.. man, to be a fly on that wall :)

Start popping the popcorn folks and pull up a chair, they are starting to cannibalize themselves.

15. in the recent filing about Rove, Hadley, and Tenet not being called to
testify - I think the key words were "not at this time" I would have to double check, but to me that is Fitz's way of leaving open the possibility of calling one or all of them in the future to testify.

Also I have been thinking prosecutors generally don't call people to testify if they are thinking of bringing indictments against those people.

17. Right.
He didn't close the door, but he made clear that his case is not based upon what they have to say. Team Libby had stated that Rove was central to their case.

A number of the media pundits, both on tv and in print, are saying that the fact he may intend to indict those he is not calling. This is likely true for two of the three. Tenet does not appear at risk in this case of anything worse than being shown to be far too loyal to Bush.

10. You knew this was coming...
As I've said before here, I fully expect that Deadeye Dick will take the hit and will resign. And it wouldn't surprise me if the Idiot-in-Chief put someone like McCain in VP place, since McCain is a chimp clone.

14. They're trying to make the issue to confusing to Amurkins
This is classic BushCO. Convolute the story to the point where Joe Sixpack just goes "Wackawackawacka" and flips on Funniest Home Videos to chortle at a few crotch bats. So far, it's worked every time.

16. Peripheral role
"Moreover, the disclosure seemed intended to suggest that Mr. Bush might have played only a peripheral role in the release of the classified material and was uninformed about the specifics — like the effort to dispatch Mr. Libby to discuss the estimate with reporters."

That pretty much sums up the Bush presidency, doesn't it? He plays a peripheral role and is uninformed.
