First day in philosophy and my professor already mentioned Abramoff!
And not in a positive light! He'd asked if anyone in our class had heard of him. I ofcourse raised my hand(along with one other student).

He even went so far as to mention that everyone should pay attention in the coming weeks to who Abramoff is shown to be in league with :) I think he and I will get along just fine

10. that's Pitt for ya
I'm assuming by the steelers logo they are from Pa.

My husband did a public relations class on journalism (he's Navy) he asked for a show off hand of how many people had heard of Abu Ghraib and Gitmo. Barley 4 of the 30 something students (from Unvi. of Pitt mind you) raised their hands. This was a class for current events! Current freaking events!

2. Why would a philosophy professor mention it?
Especially so early in the class.

This just gives ammo to the idiot College Republicans, who will go and post on their blogs and how liberal the campuses are and how they are so persecuted.

Of course, personally, I think that if they really have a problem with the levels of liberalism on college campuses, they should wait on college and instead go enlist to fight in the war they support so fiercely.

Don't tell David Horowitz, or that prof could become a target
And your whole class would have to buy pies.

7. Corruption 101 is going to be telecast for the next six months
As all the tentacles of the Abramhoff monster are uncurled.

Something to remember and repeat: taking money from one of Abramhoff's clients is not the same thing as taking money from him.

His clients are entitled to lobby on their own as well as through him.

No dems got any money from Abramhoff, as has been mentioned repeatedly here.

11. My dad taught logic and ethics before he retired
He said he always loved having the conservative engineering students try to argue for their positions, and he would guide them along, encouraging them to lay it out logically, and would point out all their logical fallacies.

He was also one of the most popular professors, too - his classes always filled up.
