Organization owes more than $2 million

In an era when conservative Christians enjoy access and influence throughout the federal government, the organization that fueled their rise has fallen on hard times.

The once-mighty Christian Coalition, founded 17 years ago by the Rev. Pat Robertson as the political fundraising and lobbying engine of the Christian right, is more than $2 million in debt, beset by creditors' lawsuits and struggling to hold on to some of its state chapters.

Two million dollars in debt and creditor's lawsuits in the offing. Oh my, how unchristian is this? Surely radical christian clerics will have a special offering in their tax free klaverns to aid and abet the coalition of the chosen. Surely they will huh?

3. Nope: "God will provide"

I sat on the administrative council of a church once. I kid you not: we had congregants who believed that angels flew down from Heaven to change the lightbulbs, fan the sanctuary with their wings to keep it cool on those hot Arizona days, and stock the refrigerator with soda. At least, their financial contributions certainly made it seem that such was their beliefs.

2. One thing not mentioned....

The Christian Coalition was created when it's predecessor, the Moral Majority, went bankrupt and had lost much of it's theocratic support.
